COMMENTARY ON PSALM 92
35 It is manifest, therefore, if the one anointing reveals God whose throne he said is eternal, that the one who anointed is clearly by nature God born of God, but the one who was anointed has received an acquired virtue, having been adorned with an excellent temple-building by the divinity of the one dwelling in him.
36 At length, then, the prophet Isaiah, recounting the very traces of his sufferings, in addition to the others adds this also with a louder cry, namely: and we saw him and he had neither form nor beauty; but his form was dishonored and failing beyond the sons of men. Then, revealing expressly that the forms and sufferings of comeliness are referred to the man but not to the divine, he immediately adds again, saying: A man in suffering and knowing how to bear weakness.
37 Again, then, this is he who after the insults was seen uncomely, without form, then again through a change was clothed in comeliness. For not the God dwelling in him was led like a lamb to death and was slaughtered in the manner of a sheep, being by nature invisible.

ΕΡΜΗΝΕΙΑ ΤΟΥ 92 ΨΑΛΜΟΥ
35 Πρόδηλον οὖν εἴπερ ὁ χρίων ἀποδεικνύει Θεὸν οὗ τὸν θρόνον εἶπεν αἰώνιον, δῆλος μέν ἐστι φύσει Θεὸς ἐκ Θεοῦ γεννηθεὶς ὁ χρίσας, ὁ δὲ χρισθεὶς ἐπίκτητον εἴληφεν ἀρετὴν ἐκκρίτῳ ναουργίᾳ κοσμηθεὶς ἐκ τῆς τοῦ κατοικοῦντος ἐν αὐτῷ θεότητος.
36 Πέρας γοῦν ὁ προφήτης Ἡσαΐας αὐτὰ μὲν τὰ τῶν παθῶν αὐτοῦ διεξιὼν ἴχνη πρὸς τοῖς ἄλλοις ἐπιφέρει καὶ τοῦτο μεγαλοφωνοτέρᾳ βοῇ, τό· καὶ εἴδομεν αὐτὸν καὶ οὐκ εἶχεν οὔτε εἶδος οὔτε κάλλος· ἀλλὰ τὸ εἶδος αὐτοῦ ἄτιμον καὶ ἐκλεῖπον παρὰ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῶν ἀνθρώπων. Εἶτα διαρρήδην ἐκφαίνων ὡς εἰς τὸν ἄνθρωπον ἀλλ' οὐκ εἰς τὸ θεῖον ἀνήρτηται τὰ τῆς εὐπρεπείας εἴδη τε καὶ πάθη παραυτίκα πάλιν ἐπάγει προσθείς· Ἄνθρωπος ἐν πληγῇ ὢν καὶ εἰδὼς φέρειν μαλακίαν.
37 Αὖθις ἄρ' οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ μετὰ τὰς ὕβρεις ἀειδὴς, ἄμορφος ὁραθεὶς, εἶτα πάλιν ἐκ μεταβολῆς εὐπρέπειαν ἐνδυσάμενος. Οὐδὲ γὰρ ὁ κατοικῶν ἐν αὐτῷ Θεὸς ἀμνοῦ δίκην εἰς θάνατον ἤγετο καὶ προβάτου τρόπον ἀπεσφάττετο, φυσικῶς ἀόρατος ὤν.
