From the Panecclesiastes fragment

Of Saint Eustathius bishop of Antioch, from the Panecclesiastes:

They suffered a manifest portion of shame when, having armed their blood-stained hands, they poured out the immaculate blood. And immediately the veil of the temple was divided and was torn from both sides on account of the plots of the dramas with many faces. And they were terrified, struck down fittingly by fears, and beholding the convergences of all kinds of thunderbolts. And they were clearly convicted when, having killed the divine Word, they nailed him to a cross.

̓Εκ τοῦ πανεκκλησιαστοῦ῾φραγμεντἀ

Τοῦ ἁγίου Εὐσταθίου ἐπισκόπου Ἀντιοχείας ἐκ τοῦ Πανεκκλησιαστοῦ·

Φανερὰν μὲν αἰσχύνης μοῖραν ὑπέστησαν ὁπηνίκα, τὰς μιαιφόνους ὁπλίσαντες χεῖρας, τὸ ἄχραντον αἷμα προύχεον. Αὐτίκα δὲ τὸ καταπέτασμα τοῦ ναοῦ διῃρέθη καὶ ἐτέμνετο διχόθεν διὰ τὰς τῶν πολυπροσώπων δραμάτων ὑποθέσεις. Ἐπτοήθησαν δὲ οἰκείως τοῖς δείμασιν ἐκπληττόμενοι καὶ παντοδαπῶν σκηπτῶν θεώμενοι συνδρομάς. Ἑάλωσαν δὲ σαφῶς ὁπότε τὸν θεῖον ἀποκτείναντες λόγον σταυρῷ προσήλωσαν.
