Admonitory verses of Chrysostom.
Whoever wishes to see that light, Ought to keep these things in his heart: From carnal passions and useless thoughts, And from every oath, and anger and confusion, And from distraction and from holding a grudge, And from judging men guilty, And to be rational and sound of mind, And pure from carnal defilements, To be gentle, humble, quiet, A messenger and a child of peace, To be temperate in foods and drinks, And to devote himself to prayer unceasingly, In all these things, to have as beginning and end, The chief of virtues, love.
