Fragmenta in epistulam i ad Thessalonicenses 4561 Thess 1,3 Or he says the work of faith is to show faith not only in words but also in deeds, that for the sake of God's love or mine, he says, you endured both toils and dangers; for this is to truly love, to bear suffering all things for the sake of the beloved. 1 thess 2,2 Having boldness in our God, he says. 1 thess 2,13 Or it is at work in you, that is, it displays its own power, perhaps through certain signs; or it is worked, that is, it grows through your life. 1 thess 2,16 And they did these things both of old in the case of the prophets and now in the case of Christ and of us, so that their sins might always be filled up; for since they were always doing these things, they were always filling up their sins. 1 thess 3,2 For the exhortation was so that you might not be shaken in the faith. 1 thess 3,3 And to be moved means to be disturbed and troubled; from the metaphor of dogs shaking their tails. 1 thess 3,9 Rightly do we rejoice before God; for he is the cause of this joy for us and it is his gift. 1 thess 4,10α For this reason we have no need to write, because you do not need to be reminded about this, but you do it. 457 1 thess 4,10β For Thessalonica is the metropolis of Macedonia. 1 thess 4,14 What then, someone might say regarding the second explanation, will the resurrection be partial, as if the unbelievers are not raised? Not this, but that all will be raised, but not all will be brought; for 'to be brought' signifies the seizure with honor from all directions in clouds and the being led to the judge. For the faithful, those who do not have this name spuriously, will be caught up in clouds to meet Christ, but the unbelievers will wait below for him to come, not being deemed worthy to meet him. For why did he not say: 'so that you may be punished for not confessing the resurrection'? Or did he pass this over as being acknowledged, and say: 'so that you may not grieve over things here in addition to the punishment there'? Or because they did not disbelieve in the resurrection—and their doubting about the times, which he mentions below, makes this clear—but were only distressed about those who had died. 1 thess 4,15 Perhaps this too was one of the unutterable things; but it was not permitted to speak all things, but it was permitted to speak this.
