75 Through the wine and the bread he proclaims the antitypes of Christ's bodily members. 76 He calls Christ Wisdom, her sensible image, describing visible prudence and signifying her business to be embraced <before> all things; and no form of wickedness or cunning opposing her prevails; for presenting a clear sign to those who love her, he cries out with praise: she is well-known to all, and everything precious is not worthy of her.
77 For a general, having once taken a city, disposed of it as he wished, but the charioteer of the passions subdues them, for as long as he is in this life; for the internal enemy is in every way more difficult than the external one, since the one who sacked the city became free from care, but the other struggles against an unceasing enemy. A great achievement, therefore, is to control anger and a great stratagem against the spirit of anger.
78 It is said not only concerning a prostitute, but also concerning wicked desire; for when the mind rushes toward an evil deed, then what the heart says, the mouth devises perverse things; for then he will be as in the heart of the sea, being choked by the brine of many thoughts and like a pilot in a great surge, driven by the waves of evil desire, he struggles toward the wicked deed.
