Against Eunomius I. Preface, that it is not profitable to try to benefit those who do not accept the help. Cap.1.2II. That we have rightly come to the refutation, being deeply grieved that our brother was accused. Cap.1.3III. That seeing nothing great in Eunomius’ book in terms of the power of his argument, we have reasonably taken courage for the refutation. Cap.1.4IV. That Eunomius used much futility and verbiage in his own argument, not being very serious about the crucial points.Cap.1.5 V. That he did not do well in mocking the bishops Eustathius the Armenian and Basil the Galatian in his own speeches. Cap.1.6 VI. A remembrance of the patron of impiety, Aetius, and of Eunomius himself, containing in brief both the origins and the practices of the men. Cap.1.7VII. That Eunomius is convicted by himself for making his defense without being accused. Cap.1.8 VIII. That the insults which he used against Basil are shown by the facts to be more fitting for him than for the other. Cap.1.9 IX. That in accusing Basil of not standing up for the faith in the time of the struggles, he himself is not shown to be a stranger to the accusation. Cap.1.10 X. That all the insulting words he called him are refuted as false by the facts themselves. Cap.1.11XI. That he coldly used the sophism concerning the prize, by which he constructs that it is confessed by us that he was judged and did not make his defense without being accused. Cap.1.12XII. That he vainly reproaches for cowardice the one who showed such courage in the struggles against both emperors and prefects.Cap.1.13 XIII. A remembrance of the things said by him dogmatically and a battle, by division, against the things said. Cap.1.14 That he did wrong in mentioning the saving dogma, not naming Father and Son and Holy Spirit as has been handed down, but also using other names according to his own will. Cap.1.15 XV. That he did wrong in saying that the substance of the Father alone is most sovereign and highest, constructing by what is left unsaid that the substance of the Son and of the Spirit is both invalid and lower. Cap.1.16 XVI. An examination of the meaning of subjection, according to which he says the nature of the Spirit is subjected to the substance of the Father and of the Son; in which it was constructed that the Holy Spirit is ranked with the Father and the Son, not subjected.Cap.1.17 XVII. An examination of the energies, what they are according to nature, which he says follow the substance of the Father and of the Son. Cap.1.18 XVIII. That he does not act according to reason in dividing the dogma into a multitude of substances, providing no proof that these things are so. ξαπ.1.19 XIX. That in calling the divine substance simple, he concedes simplicity only in name. ξαπ.1.20 XX. That he does wrong in conceiving beforehand some energy of the existence of the Only-begotten which produces the hypostasis of Christ. Cap.1.21 XXI. That their blasphemy is more grievous than the Jewish error.Cap.1.22 XXII. That one must not dogmatize about greater and lesser concerning the divine substance; in which there is also a technical exposition of ecclesiastical dogmas. Cap.1.23 XXIII. That the teaching of the faith is not without witness, being secured by the scriptural testimonies.Cap.1.24 XXIV. That he speaks idly, contriving magnitudes and differences of works and energies in the dogmas of piety. Cap.1.25 XXV. That one who constructs the Father as older than the Son according to some interval-based concept will be forced to say that not even the Father is without beginning. ξαπ.1.26 XXVI. That such a theorem as was examined concerning the Son and the Father, which they force, will not also fit the creation, but it is necessary to consider the Son as eternally with the Father, and to confess that creation has had its beginning from some definite <time>. Cap.1.27 XXVII. That he vainly supposed that the same energies produce the same works and the variation of the works
