beating the air, and wrestling down the enemy in the weakness of the flesh and in the poverty of the soul, and doing all the things commanded, and calling oneself unprofitable; to give thanks to the holy and glorious and awesome God, and to do nothing out of rivalry and vainglory, but for God, and for his pleasure; For God has scattered the bones of men-pleasers.

Not to boast at all, nor to speak praises of oneself, nor to listen gladly when another praises you; but to serve in all things in secret, and not to act for the display of men; but to seek only the praise that is from God, and to consider his awesome and glorious coming; the passage from here, the good things laid up for the righteous, likewise the fire prepared for the devil and his angels. And in all these things to remember the apostolic saying; For the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed in us. And to declare with David; For those who keep his commandments, there is a great reward, a great wage, and crowns of righteousness, eternal tabernacles, unending life, unspeakable joy, an indestructible dwelling with the Father, and with the Son, and with the Holy Spirit, the true God in heaven; an appearing face to face; choirs with angels, with Fathers, with patriarchs, with prophets, with apostles, and martyrs, and confessors, and those from ages past who have pleased God, with whom may we strive to be found by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power unto the ages of ages. Amen.
