26 A desire for wanderings and a longing for others' houses overturns the state of the soul and corrupts its zeal.

27 A faithful virgin will not be afraid, but the unfaithful one will flee even her own shadow. 28 Envy melts the soul, and jealousy devours it. 29 She who despises her weak sister, and is far from Christ

will be. 30 Do not say: ‘This is mine and this is yours.’ For in Christ Jesus all things are common. 31 You shall not meddle in another's life, and you shall not rejoice at your sister's fall. 32 Help virgins in need, and do not be lifted up because of your noble birth. 33 Do not bring forth a word from your mouth in the church of the Lord, and do not

lift up your eyes. For the Lord knows your heart, and watches all your thoughts.

34 Push every evil desire away from you, and your enemies will not grieve you.

35 Sing psalms from your heart, and do not only move your tongue in your mouth.

36 A foolish virgin will love silver, but the wise one will add even her own bread.

37 Just as an attack of fire is hard to stop, so is the soul of a wounded virgin hard to heal.

38 Do not give your soul to wicked thoughts, lest they defile your heart and make pure prayer far from you.

39 Heavy is grief and unbearable is despondency, but tears to God are stronger than both.

40 Hunger and thirst wither evil desires, but a good vigil purifies the mind.

41 Love turns away anger and wrath, but gifts overturn resentfulness. 42 She who speaks secretly against her sister will be cast out of the bridal chamber,

and will cry out at its doors and there will be no one to answer. 43 The lamp of a merciless virgin will be extinguished, and she will not see approaching

her bridegroom. 44 Glass striking a stone will be shattered, and a virgin touching a man

will not be held guiltless. 45 A gentle woman is better than an angry and wrathful virgin. 46 She who draws out a man's words with laughter, is like one who puts

a noose around her own neck. 47 As a pearl in a golden setting, so is a virgin covered by

modesty. 48 Songs of demons and flutes unnerve the soul and destroy its vigor, which you must guard always, so that you do not become a reproach.

49 Do not delight in jesters, and do not rejoice in mockers, because the Lord has abandoned them.

50 You shall not despise your sister who is eating, and do not be puffed up about your own self-control. For you do not know what the Lord has determined or who will stand before him.

51 She who pities her own bruised eyes and wasting flesh, will not rejoice in the passionlessness of her soul.

52 Self-control is heavy and purity is hard to achieve, but nothing is sweeter than the heavenly bridegroom.

53 The souls of virgins will be enlightened, but the souls of the impure will see darkness.
