Those who have departed, give them rest; those who are weary, strengthen them; for you are the life of us all, and the salvation of us all; and the hope of us all, and the healing of us all, and the proper resurrection of us all; and to you we send up glory, honor, and worship, with your all-ruling, and all-seeing Begetter and with your all-holy and life-creating and consubstantial Spirit, now and ever. Prayer of the veil. No one bound by carnal desires and pleasures is worthy to approach, or to draw near, or to minister to you, O King of glory. For to serve you is great and terrible, and inaccessible even to the heavenly powers themselves. But nevertheless, because of your ineffable and immeasurable love for mankind, you became man, unchangeably and unalterably, and have 36.704 been named for us a high priest, and have delivered to us the sacred rite of this liturgical and unbloody sacrifice, as the Master of all.

For you (are*) Lord of things in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth; who are borne upon a cherubic throne; the Lord of the seraphim, and King of Israel; the only holy one, who rests in the holy ones. You, therefore, I entreat, the only good and ready-to-hear God, look upon me, your sinful and unprofitable servant; and make me sufficient by the power of the Holy Spirit, clothed in the grace of the priesthood, to stand before this your holy table, and to consecrate your spotless body and your precious blood.

For to you I come, bowing my own neck; and I pray you, do not turn your face from me; nor reject me from among your children; but count me worthy that these gifts be offered to you by me, your sinful and unworthy servant. For you are the one who sanctifies and is sanctified; who both offers and is offered; the one who receives and is received; the one who gives and is distributed; and to you we send up glory, with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Another prayer of the veil, from the Egyptians. Lord our God, the Almighty, who knows the mind of men,

who tests hearts and reins; who called me, the unworthy one, to this your ministry; do not abhor me, nor turn your face from me; but blot out all my transgressions, and wash away the filth of my body and the stain of my soul, and sanctify me wholly, so that while I beseech you to grant remission of sins to others, I myself may not become rejected. Yes, Lord, do not turn me away, humbled and ashamed, but send forth to me the grace of your Holy Spirit, and make me worthy to stand at your holy altar without condemnation, and to offer to you this rational and unbloody offering, with a pure conscience, for the forgiveness of our sins and transgressions; and for the remission of the ignorances of your people; for the repose and refreshment of our fathers and brothers who have fallen asleep, and for the strengthening of all your people, to your glory, of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, now.
