knowing, were the first to make ships. And from the flood until the building of the tower there were years; and in the intervening time after the flood, Arphaxad compiled astronomy, having found the naming of the stars by Seth son of Adam and his children, written on a stone tablet. For the descendants of Seth, being god-fearing, and having foreknowledge of the future destruction of mankind, or change, made two pillars, one of stone and one of brick, and wrote on them all the celestial things set forth by their ancestor Seth; reasoning that if the change should happen by water, the stone pillar would remain and what was written on it, but if by fire, the brick one, and what was written on it would be known to the people after these things; or some pillar was found after the flood on the mountain of Seiris, and it is there until now. And so the race of Arphaxad continued until the building of the tower; And Arphaxad lived 125 years.
Therefore there are from Adam until the building of the tower 2922 years; and so those building the tower were 70 nations, who also were divided into languages over the face of all the earth; And Cush the Ethiopian from the tribe of Shem begot Nebrod the 234 giant, the one who founded Babylon, whom the Persians say was deified and became among the stars of heaven. They call him Orion; for he was the first to show how to hunt, and he supplied them with beasts for food, for which reason he also became pre-eminent. And in earlier times from the race of Arphaxad there arose a certain wise Indian man, an astronomer, named Gandoubarios, who was the first to write on astronomy for the Indians; and from the same tribe of Shem, which ruled Assyria and Persia, and the parts of the east, there appeared a man, a giant by race, named Kronos, surnamed by his own father Domnos, after the name of the wandering star Kronos. And he became powerful, who was the first to show how to be a king and to rule and to have power over many people. And he himself ruled the Assyrians for many years, and he subdued the whole land of Persia; and he was feared by all, and he had a wife, Semiramis, who was also called Rhea by the Assyrians, because she was arrogant and proud. And she too was from the tribe of Shem, son of Noah. And Kronos had a son, Pikos, who was called Zeus by his own father, also after the name of the wandering star. And the same Kronos also had another son, named Ninos, and a daughter named Hera. And Pikos, who is also Zeus, took a wife, his own sister Hera, from whom he had a son named Senbelos. And the ancestor Kronos, having left his son Pikos in Assyria, and his wife Rhea, also called Semiramis, to rule over the Assyrians with his son Pikos, himself taking the help of brave men, went down to the west, which was not ruled by anyone, and he ruled the western parts, having disappeared from Assyria, and he ruled the western parts for many years. And there he also had a wife named Phyllara, from whom he had a son named Aphros, to whom he gave the land towards Libya to rule. And Aphros took Astymone, and begot a daughter, whom he called Aphrodite, after the name of the wandering star. And Kronos had from Phyllara another son, the one called Cheiron the philosopher. And Pikos, also Zeus, having ruled the 235 Assyrians for 30 years, he too having left his mother Rhea, also called Semiramis, and his sister and wife Hera, and having made his son Belos king of the Assyrians, went down to his own father Kronos. And Belos ruled the Assyrians for 2 years, and died; whom the Persians deified.
And Kronos, when his son Pikos came to him in the west, yielded the kingship of the west to him. For he had become weak, and he ruled
