night of thoughts to inflame you more against the brothers. επη 4,30 For as if making it manifest that we are God's people, he sealed us in baptism; for this is the day of redemption. 451 επη 5,16 Or thus: the time is not certain for us; for we are sojourners. Redeem it, therefore, and make it your own. And how will this be? Through pleasing God in it; for then this becomes one's own, because the good deeds in it follow there, giving glory, just as the evil ones, condemning. επη 5,18 For wine has been given for gladness, not for drunkenness. επη 5, 21 For through the name of Christ all things are ours. For when each one is subject to each one, and not for a worldly or improper matter, but through fear of Christ, what evil will then be in our midst? επη 5,24 The entire multitude; for among individuals there is also the unsubmissive. επη 5,31 From him, insofar as he is our firstfruits of the second creation, just as from Adam for the first. επη 6,12 Against the spiritual things, that is, the existing demons, or of wickedness, such as of the devil—for they are ranked under him—or leaders of wicked deeds. επη 6,14 And you can also understand it as referring to Christ, who is truly truth—for "I am," he says, "the truth"—whom it has been granted to men to put on, not only to be girded with; for "as many of you," it says, "as were baptized into Christ, have put on Christ." 452 επη 6,17 Or that he means the spiritual gifts which are through the word and command of God, or the phrase "which is the word of God" must be joined with what follows, so that it is thus: "which is the word and command of God, this," he says, "do." What? "praying with all prayer and supplication that you may be," he says. Or, with respect to activating and dividing the spiritual gifts, it is the word of God; for the word of God is discerning. Thus rather the blessed John. For through the word of God the gifts were accomplished; for "whatever you ask," he says, "in my name, he will give it to you," says Christ. επη 6,19 Or that I may make my defense with boldness, or that I may preach the gospel.
