Christ, the Savior of the world; Take, eat; this is my body, which is broken for you for the remission of sins.

Rich is the all-virtuous table of the virgin, O beloved, the holy Virgin and mother of Christ has bestowed on the inhabited world foods of all kinds for enjoyment, she who bore Christ, the shining lamp that gleams in heaven and on earth; to whom the prophet Zechariah [says]; Behold, a golden lampstand and the lamp upon it. Therefore also David cries out this melodious song: Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my paths. O virginal lampstand, driving away the darkness and illuminating with light. O virginal lampstand, that brought forth fire and oil inseparable for illumination. O virginal lampstand, receiving a three-lighted, one unquenchable fire, consubstantial from the most high throne, and shining forth for the illumination of the inhabited world. O virginal lampstand, concerning whom God says through the Prophet: There I will make a horn to spring forth for David, I have prepared a lamp for my Christ. The royal crown, having the precious pearl-like stone, Christ; the royal purple, that clothed the king of heaven and earth with the universal purple-like garment of the body; the undefiled faith of Christians; the incomprehensible book, that read aloud to the world the Word and the Son of the Father. The blessed among women, who bore the Word made flesh from you, the Word, the Son of the Father, the Word, the pre-eternal God, the Word without beginning, and eternal, the Word worshipped with the Father and the Holy Spirit, the Word enthroned with the Father, the Word who sits upon the cherubim, the Word, whom the four living creatures glorify, the Word who created the angels, the Word who made principalities and powers to be, the Word who stretched out the heavens, and established the earth, the Word, the true God Jesus Christ our Lord, whom you bore, all-holy Virgin, and after childbirth again a virgin, she who bore the pearl, and wove the royal crown. O blessed Virgin, who brought forth the heavenly glory, who from the many flowers of paradise filled the world with fragrance. The Virgin is an undefiled lily, having given birth to Christ, the unfading rose, the vine of truth, she who is fruitful and unharvested in her virginity, she who was not tilled, and yet bore a cluster of grapes, she who brought forth Christ, the ripe cluster. How then did you bring forth, persuade us, all-holy Virgin; how were you seen on earth as mother of God, having received the pre-eternal Word. I, the virgin who conceived, am incorruptible, I have become an undefiled temple of the Word of God who dwelt in me, I who have known no marriage.

43.497 Bearing Emmanuel in an incorruptible womb, into an undefiled belly, being likened to a cherubic throne; in which the Word of the Father became flesh, the one without beginning and invisible; visible according to the economy, the God who became man; having known no experience of man, I gave birth to the pre-eternal God, Jesus Christ. For I am a virgin even now after the birth, purer than before. Without travail I gave birth, not as every woman; for the things between me and them are dissimilar. The nature of men has not known my childbirth, except only the God who dwelt in me. O Virgin, awesome treasure of the Church, the great mystery that has occurred, calls the virgin both priest and altar; who, serving as a table, gave Christ the heavenly bread to us for the remission of sins. O undefiled womb, having the circle of heaven, and bearing God the uncontainable, but in you contained. O womb broader than heaven, that did not constrain the God within you. O womb, a seven-circled heaven, and being greater than them. O womb, higher and broader than the seven heavens. O womb, the eighth heaven, higher than the firmaments O womb, having the unquenchable light of seven-fold grace. What shall I say, or what shall I speak concerning the august and holy Virgin? Desire draws me to speak concerning the Theotokos, and fear possesses me to be silent, not worthily
