a man shall rise up out of Israel, and shall break the mighty ones of Moab. 5.42 And Daniel says: Until Christ the prince, seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. 5.43 And David says: When the Lord turns back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice and Israel shall be glad. 5.44 And again: He has set his tabernacle in the sun; and he, as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, will rejoice as a giant to run his course. His going out is from the end of heaven, and his circuit to the end of heaven. 5.45 And again: Make your face to shine upon your servant. 5.46 And again: He bowed the heavens and came down. 5.47 And again: The God of gods shall be seen in Zion. 5.48 And again: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; the Lord is God and has appeared to us. 5.49 And again: The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him and delivers them. 5.50 And again: He shall come down like rain upon a fleece. 5.51 And again: The Lord is near to the brokenhearted. 5.52 And again: May he cause his face to shine upon us, and have mercy on us. 5.53 And again: Did all the peoples see the salvation of our God? 5.54 Solomon says: Will God indeed dwell with men. 6.t that he was seen, and being God became man-

6.1 Jeremiah says: This is our God, no other shall be accounted of in comparison with him. He has found out every way of knowledge and has given it to Jacob his servant and to Israel his beloved. 6.2 And again: He is a man, and who shall know him? 6.3 And again: After this he was seen on earth and conversed with men. 6.4 And David says: Truth has sprung out of the earth. 6.5 And again: And a man was born in her, and the most High himself has established her. 6.6 Hosea says: My flesh is from them; how shall I give you up, Ephraim? I will protect you, Israel, because I am God and not man. 6.7 Isaiah says: God is with us, know it, O nations, and be defeated. 6.8 And again: I became manifest to those who did not ask for me, I was found by those who did not seek me. 6.9 And again: They shall pray to you, because God is in you, and there is no God besides you; for you are God, and we did not know it. 7.t 7 That the Lord is from the seed of David- 7.1 David says in the 88th psalm: Once I have sworn by my holiness, I will not lie to David, his seed shall endure forever. 7.2 And again: The Lord swore truth to David and he will not annul it: Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne. 7.3 And again: I will make his seed to endure forever and ever, and his throne as the days of heaven. 7.4 And Isaiah says: I will place his kingdom upon the throne of David, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and judgment. 7.5 And again Jeremiah: Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, and I will raise up for David a righteous branch, and a king shall reign and understand and shall execute judgment and justice on the earth; in his days Israel shall be saved and Judah shall dwell upon him. 8.t 8 That he is from a virgin- 8.1 Isaiah the great and glorious first cries out, saying: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son; and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is interpreted, God with us. 9.t 9 That after the birth he will preserve the one who bore him a virgin- 9.1 Ezekiel says: The Lord said to me: son of man, this gate shall be shut, no one shall pass through it but the Lord God alone, and he shall enter and sit down, because he is the prince, and he shall go out and shall shut the doors behind him, and the gate shall be shut for ever and ever. 10.t 10 That the womb is a gate- 10.1 Job says: Why did you not shut for me the gates of my mother's womb? 11.t 11 That the virgin will give birth without pain- 11.1 Isaiah cries out, saying: Before she who was in labor gave birth, before the labor pains came, she escaped and bore a male child. 12.t 12 That he was anointed- 12.1 David says in the 44th psalm: Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions. 12.2 And Isaiah says: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed

ἀναστήσεται ἄνθρωπος ἐξ Ισραηλ, καὶ θραύσει τοὺς δυνατοὺς Μωαβ. 5.42 Καὶ ∆ανιηλ λέγει· Ἕως Χριστοῦ ἡγουμένου ἑβδομάδες ἑπτὰ καὶ ἑβδομάδες ἑξηκονταδύο. 5.43 Καὶ ∆αυιδ λέγει· Ἐν τῷ ἐπιστρέψαι Κύριον τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν τοῦ λαοῦ αὐτοῦ ἀγαλλιάσεται Ιακωβ καὶ εὐφρανθήσεται Ισραηλ. 5.44 Καὶ πάλιν· Ὁ αὐτὸς ἐν τῷ ἡλίῳ ἔθετο τὸ σκήνωμα αὐτοῦ· καὶ αὐτὸς ὡς νυμφίος ἐκπορευόμενος ἐκ παστοῦ αὐτοῦ, ἀγαλλιάσεται ὡς γίγας δραμεῖν ὁδόν. ἀπ' ἄκρου τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἡ ἔξοδος αὐτοῦ, καὶ τὸ κατάντημα αὐτοῦ ἕως ἄκρου τοῦ οὐρανοῦ. 5.45 Καὶ πάλιν· Ἐπίφανον τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἐπὶ τὸν δοῦλον σου. 5.46 Καὶ πάλιν· Ἔκλινεν οὐρανοὺς καὶ κατέβη. 5.47 Καὶ πάλιν· Ὀφθήσεται ὁ Θεὸς τῶν θεῶν ἐν Σιων. 5.48 Καὶ πάλιν· Εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου· Θεὸς Κύριος καὶ ἐπέφανεν ἡμῖν. 5.49 Καὶ πάλιν· Παρεμβαλεῖ ἄγγελος Κυρίου κύκλῳ τῶν φοβουμένων αὐτὸν καὶ ῥύσεται αὐτούς. 5.50 Καὶ πάλιν· Καταβήσεται ὡς ὑετὸς ἐπὶ πόκον. 5.51 Καὶ πάλιν· Ἐγγὺς Κύριος τοῖς συντετριμμένοις τὴν καρδίαν. 5.52 Καὶ πάλιν· Ἐπιφάναι τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐφ' ἡμᾶς, καὶ ἐλεήσαι ἡμᾶς. 5.53 Καὶ πάλιν· Εἴδοσαν πάντες οἱ λαοὶ τὸ σωτηρίαν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν; 5.54 Σολομων λέγει· Εἰ ἀληθῶς κατοικήσει ὁ Θεὸς μετὰ ἀνθρώπων. 6.t ὅτι ὤφθη, καὶ Θεὸς ὢν γέγονεν ἄνθρωπος-

6.1 Ιερεμιας λέγει· Οὗτος ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν, οὐ λογισθήσεται ἕτερος πρὸς αὐτόν. ἐξεῦρε πᾶσαν ὁδὸν ἐπιστήμης καὶ δέδωκεν αὐτὴν Ιακωβ τῷ παιδὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ Ισραηλ τῷ ἠγαπημένῳ ὑπ' αὐτόν. 6.2 Καὶ πάλιν· Ἀνθρωπός ἐστι, καὶ τίς γνώσεται αὐτόν; 6.3 Καὶ πάλιν· Μετὰ ταῦτα ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ὤφθη καὶ τοῖς ἀνθρώποις συνανεστράφη. 6.4 Καὶ ∆αυιδ λέγει· Ἀλήθεια ἐκ τῆς γῆς ἀνέτειλε. 6.5 Καὶ πάλιν· Καὶ ἄνθρωπος ἐγεννήθη ἐν αὐτῇ, καὶ αὐτὸς ἐθεμελίωσεν αὐτὴν ὁ ὕψιστος. 6.6 Ωσηε λέγει· Σάρξ μου ἐξ αὐτῶν· τί σε διαθῶ Εφραϊμ; ὑπερασπίσω σου Ισραηλ, διότι Θεὸς ἐγώ εἰμι καὶ οὐκ ἄνθρωπος. 6.7 Ησαϊας λέγει· Μεθ' ἡμῶν ὁ Θεός, γνῶτε ἔθνη καὶ ἡττᾶσθε. 6.8 Καὶ πάλιν· Ἐμφανὴς ἐγενόμην τοῖς ἐμὲ μὴ ἐπερωτῶσιν, εὑρέθην τοῖς ἐμὲ μὴ ζητοῦσιν. 6.9 Καὶ πάλιν· Ἐν σοὶ προσεύξονται, ὅτι ἐν σοὶ Θεός ἐστι, καὶ οὐκ ἔστι Θεὸς πλὴν σοῦ· σὺ γὰρ εἶ Θεός, καὶ οὐκ ᾔδειμεν. 7.t ζ ὅτι ἐκ σπέρματος ∆αυιδ ὁ Κύριος- 7.1 ∆αυιδ ἐν τῷ πη ψαλμῷ λέγει· Ἅπαξ ὤμοσα ἐν τῷ ἁγίῳ μου, εἰ τῷ ∆αυιδ ψεύσομαι, τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα μενεῖ. 7.2 Καὶ πάλιν· Ὤμοσε Κύριος τῷ ∆αυιδ ἀλήθειαν καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀθετήσει αὐτήν· ἐκ καρποῦ τῆς κοιλίας σου θήσομαι ἐπὶ τὸν θρόνον σου. 7.3 Καὶ πάλιν· θήσομαι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὸν θρόνον αὐτοῦ ὡς τὰς ἡμέρας τοῦ οὐρανοῦ. 7.4 Καὶ Ησαϊας λέγει· θήσω τὴν βασιλείαν αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸν θρόνον ∆αυιδ, τοῦ κατορθῶσαι αὐτὴν καὶ ἀντιλαβέσθαι ἐν δικαιο σύνῃ καὶ κρίματι. 7.5 Καὶ πάλιν Ιερεμιας· Ἰδοὺ ἡμέραι ἔρχονται, λέγει Κύριος, καὶ ἀναστήσω τῷ ∆αυιδ ἀνατολὴν δικαίαν, καὶ βασιλεύσει βασιλεὺς καὶ συνήσει καὶ ποιήσει κρίμα καὶ δικαιοσύνην ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς· ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις αὐτοῦ σωθήσεται Ισραηλ καὶ Ιουδας κατασκηνώσει ἐπ' αὐτόν. 8.t η ὅτι ἐκ παρθένου- 8.1 Ησαϊας ὁ μέγας καὶ ἔνδοξος πρῶτος βοᾷ λέγων· Ἰδοὺ ἡ παρθένος ἐν γαστρὶ ἕξει καὶ τέξεται υἱόν· καὶ καλέσουσι τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Εμμανουηλ, ὁ ἐστι μεθερμηνευόμενον μεθ' ἡμῶν ὁ Θεός. 9.t θ ὅτι μετὰ τὸ γεννηθῆναι φυλάξει τὴν τέκουσαν παρθένον- 9.1 Ιεζεκιηλ λέγει· Εἶπε Κύριος πρός με· υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, ἡ πύλη αὕτη κεκλεισμένη ἔσται, οὐδεὶς οὐ μὴ διέλθῃ δι' αὐτῆς ἀλλὰ Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς μόνος, καὶ εἰσελεύσεται καὶ καθίεται, ὅτι αὐτός ἐστιν ὁ ἡγούμενος, καὶ ἐξελεύσεται καὶ κλείσει τὰς θύρας ὄπισθεν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔσται ἡ πύλη κεκλεισμένη εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος. 10.t ι ὅτι ἡ μήτρα πύλη- 10.1 Ιωβ λέγει· ∆ιὰ τί οὐ συνέκλεισάς μοι πύλας γαστρὸς μητρός μου; 11.t ια ὅτι ἀνωδίνως ἡ παρθένος γεννήσει- 11.1 Ησαϊας βοᾷ λέγων· Πρὶν τὴν ὠδίνουσαν τεκεῖν, πρὶν ἐλθεῖν τῶν πόνων τῶν ὠδίνων, ἐξέφυγε καὶ ἔτεκεν ἄρσεν. 12.t ιβ ὅτι ἐχρίσθη- 12.1 ∆αυιδ λέγει ἐν τῷ μδ ψαλμῷ· ∆ιὰ τοῦτο ἔχρισέ σε ὁ Θεὸς ὁ Θεός σου ἔλαιον ἀγαλλιάσεως παρὰ τὸν μετόχους σου. 12.2 Καὶ Ησαϊας λέγει· Πνεῦμα Κυρίου ἐπ' ἐμέ, οὗ εἵνεκεν ἔχρισέ
