12. And Amos the prophet. He was born in Tekoa from the land of Zebulun. He is the father of Isaiah the prophet. And Amaziah the priest of Bethel, having frequently beaten him, reviled him in ambush, and finally the son of Amaziah killed him, striking him on the temple with a club, because he had rebuked him concerning the snare of the two golden calves. And while still breathing he came to his own land; and he died and was buried there with his fathers.
13. Micah the prophet. He was born in Morasthi 18 of the tribe of Ephraim. This man did many things to Ahab, king of Judah; and by Joram his son he was killed, being thrown from a cliff, because he rebuked him for his impieties and those of his fathers which he had done. And having died he was buried in Morasthi in his own land, all alone near the common burial ground; and his tomb is well-known to this day.
14. And Joel the prophet. He was from the field of Bethom from the land of Reuben; and he prophesied many things concerning Jerusalem and the end of the nations. And seeing, he died in peace and was buried gloriously in Bethom in his own land.
15. Obadiah the prophet. He was from Shechem from the field of Bethachamar. This is the third captain of fifty whom Elijah the Tishbite spared, and he went down and came to the king. And after these things, having left his royal post, he attached himself to the prophet Elijah and became his disciple; and having endured much for his sake, he was saved; and having died he was buried in the field of Bethachamar with his fathers.
16. Jonah the prophet. He then was from the land of Kiriath-maous 19 near Azotus, a city of the Greeks, by the sea. At that time Elijah the prophet was rebuking Ahab king of Samaria, and having called a great famine upon the land he fled into the desert; and he was fed by the ravens; and he drank water from the brook. And when the brook dried up, he became hungry. And he came to Zarephath of Sidon to a poor widow woman, who was the mother of Jonah, and he entered her house; and she did for him as he commanded her; and he ate and blessed her with grain and oil and stayed with her. For he could not stay with uncircumcised people, and God raised her dead son Jonah through Elijah and gave him back alive to his mother because of her hospitality. And when Jonah came of age he was sent to Nineveh to the Assyrians. And Jonah sought to flee the Lord and was swallowed by the great fish, wishing to go to Tarshish; and having come out of the great fish he preached the destruction of Nineveh. And the Ninevites repented to God and received mercy. And Jonah was grieved, and having returned he did not remain in his own land, but taking his mother he sojourned in the land of Sur, a country of foreigners. For he said, "1oThus I may remove the reproach, because I prophesied falsely against 20 Nineveh."2 And having dwelt in the land of Saar he died there and was buried in the cave of Kenaz the judge. And he prophesied that: when they should see in Jerusalem many nations from the west, it will be destroyed to its foundations.
17. And Nahum the prophet. He was from Elkosh beyond the Jordan in Begabar; of the tribe of Simeon. This one after Jonah gave a sign against Nineveh, that it would be destroyed by fresh waters and an earthly fire, which also happened. For the lake surrounding it during an earthquake, and a fire coming from the desert, burned all its higher parts. And Nahum died in peace, and was buried in his own land of Begabar.
18. Habakkuk the prophet. He was from the field of Beth-zuchar, of the tribe of Simeon. He saw before the captivity concerning the capture of Jerusalem, and he mourned greatly over the city and the people. And when Nebuchadnezzar came to Jerusalem
