me. 13a.t 13 That He is without a father on earth and without intercourse- 13a.1 Jeremiah says: Woe is me, my mother, what sort of man have you borne me, a man judged and being judged by all the earth. 13a.2 And David says in the 21st Psalm: O God, my God, attend to me. For you are he that took me out of the womb, my hope from my mother's breasts; I was cast upon you from the womb, from my mother's belly you are my God. 13a.3 And Daniel. I beheld until a stone was cut out without hands, and it struck the image. 13b.t And that He is a stone, Isaiah says: 13b.1a Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense. And he who believes in him will not be put to shame. 13b.2 And Zechariah says: Upon the one stone are seven eyes, looking upon all the earth. 14.t 14 That He is a child- 14.1 Isaiah testifies, saying: For a child is born to us, a son is also given to us, whose government is upon his shoulder, and his name is called the angel of great counsel. 14.2 And again the same says: Before the child knows to call his father or his mother, he received the power of Damascus. 14.3 And again: A little child shall write them. 15.t 15 That He will be born in Bethlehem- 15.1 Isaiah says: He will dwell in a high place on strong rocks. 16.t 10 That the Magi will worship Him- 16.1 David says in the 71st Psalm: The kings of Tharsis and the isles shall bring presents, the kings of the Arabians and Saba shall offer gifts; and all the kings of the earth shall worship him. 16.2 And Isaiah says: They shall come from Saba bringing gold and frankincense and myrrh, and they shall proclaim the salvation of the Lord. 17.t 17 That the star will rise- 17.1 Balaam says: A star shall rise out of Jacob, and a man shall arise out of Israel. And his kingdom shall be exalted. 18.t 18 That the infants will be killed- 18.1 Jeremiah thus laments, saying: Thus said the Lord, a voice was heard in Ramah, of lamentation, and woe, and weeping, and mourning; Rachel weeping would not cease for her sons, because they are not. Thus said the Lord, let your voice cease from weeping, and your eyes from your tears, for there is a reward for your works, and they shall return from the land of the enemies, abiding for your children. 19.t 19 That Herod and all with him will be troubled- 19.1 Jeremiah says: In that day, says the Lord, the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the rulers, and the priests shall be amazed, and the prophets shall wonder. 20.t 20 That he will seek to worship with hypocrisy- 20.1 David says in the 65th Psalm: In the greatness of your power your enemies shall lie to you. 21.t 21 That having been deceived, he will be enraged- 21.1 David says in the 111th Psalm: The sinner shall see it and be angered, he shall gnash his teeth, and melt away. 22.t 22 That he will search and seek- 22.1 David says in the 63rd Psalm: They said, who shall see them, or who will tell of the hiding of snares? They have failed in searching out a search. 23.t 23 That he will kill the infants- 23.1 It was said in the 18th chapter. 24.t 24 That he will not kill the Christ- 24.1 David says in the 30th Psalm: The sinner watches the righteous to destroy him, but the Lord will not abandon him into his hands. 24.2 And again in the 111th Psalm: The desire of the wicked shall perish. 25.t 25 That the Christ will go down to Egypt- 25.1 Isaiah says: Behold, the Lord sits upon a light cloud and will come to Egypt, and all the handmade things of Egypt will be shaken. 25.2 And again: The Lord shall be known to the Egyptians, and the Egyptians shall fear the Lord in that day. 26.t 20 That He will be called out of Egypt- 26.1 Joel says: Out of Egypt I called my son. 26.2 And Balaam says: God led him out of Egypt, as the glory of his unicorn. 27.t 27 That being baptized He will sanctify the waters- 27.1 Ezekiel says, having seen: Behold, water coming down from the right side; and its going forth became as the going forth of a man. and he passed through the water, a water of remission. And the Lord said to me: son of man, this water that goes to the land of Galilee will sanctify the waters; and every soul upon which this water comes shall live and be healed. 28.t 28 That He will ascend gloriously from the baptism-

με. 13a.t ιγ ὅτι χωρὶς πατρὸς ἐπὶ γῆς καὶ μιξέως- 13a.1 Ιερεμιας λέγει· οἴμοι ἐγὼ μῆτερ· ὡς τίνα με τέτοκας ἄνδρα δικαζόμενον καὶ διακρινόμενον πάσῃ τῇ γῇ. 13a.2 Καὶ ∆αυιδ λέγει ἐν τῷ κα ψαλμῷ· Ὁ Θεὸς ὁ Θεός μου πρόσχες μοι. Ὅτι σὺ εἶ ὁ ἐκσπάσας με ἐκ γαστρός, ἡ ἐλπίς μου ἀπὸ μαστῶν τῆς μητρός μου· ἐπὶ σὲ ἐπερρίφην ἐκ μήτρας, ἐκ κοιλίας μητρός μου Θεός μου εἶ σύ. 13a.3 Καὶ ∆ανιηλ. Ἐθεώρει ἕως οὗ ἀπεσχίθη λίθος ἄνευ χειρῶν, καὶ ἐπάταξε τὴν εἰκόνα. 13b.t Καὶ ὅτι λίθος, Ησαϊας λέγει· 13b.1a Ἰδοὺ τίθημι λίθον προσκόμματος ἐν Σιων, καὶ πέτραν σκανδάλου. Καὶ ὁ πιστεύων ἐπ' αὐτῷ οὐ καταισχυνθήσεται. 13b.2 Καὶ Ζαχαριας λέγει· Ἐπὶ τὸν λίθον τὸν ἕνα ἑπτὰ ὀφθαλμοί εἰσιν, ἐπιβλέποντες ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν. 14.t ιδ ὅτι παιδίον- 14.1 Ησαϊας μαρτυρεῖ λέγων· Ὅτι παιδίον ἐγεννήθη ἡμῖν, υἱὸς καὶ ἐδόθη ἡμῖν, οὗ ἡ ἀρχὴ ἐπὶ τοῦ ὤμου αὐτοῦ, καὶ καλεῖται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ μεγάλης βουλῆς ἄγγελος. 14.2 Καὶ πάλιν ὁ αὐτὸς λέγει· Πρὶν γνῶναι τὸ παιδίον καλεῖν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα αὐτοῦ, ἔλαβε τὴν δύναμιν ∆αμασκοῦ. 14.3 Καὶ πάλιν· Παιδίον μικρὸν γράψει αὐτούς. 15.t ιε ὅτι ἐν Βηθλεεμ τεχθήσεται- 15.1 Ησαϊας λέγει· Οἰκήσει ἐν ὑψηλῷ τόπῳ ἐπὶ πέτρας ὀχυράς. 16.t ι ὅτι προσκυνήσουσιν οἱ μάγοι- 16.1 ∆αυιδ ἐν τῷ οα ψαλμῷ λέγει· Βασιλεῖς θαρσεῖς καὶ νῆσοι δῶρα προσοίσουσι, βασιλεῖς Ἀράβων καὶ Σαβα δῶρα προσάξουσι· καὶ προσκυνήσουσιν αὐτῷ πάντες οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς γῆς. 16.2 Καὶ Ησαϊας λέγει· Ἥξουσιν ἐκ Σαβα φέροντες χρυσίον καὶ λίβανον καὶ σμύρναν, καὶ εὐαγγελιοῦνται τὸ σωτήριον τοῦ Κυρίου. 17.t ιζ ὅτι ἀνατελεῖ ὁ ἀστήρ- 17.1 Βαλααμ λέγει· Ἀνατελεῖ ἄστρον ἐξ Ιακωβ, καὶ ἀναστήσεται ἄνθρωπος ἐξ Ισραηλ. Καὶ ὑψωθήσεται ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ. 18.t ιη ὅτι τὰ βρέφη ἀναιρεθήσονται- 18.1 Ιερεμιας οὕτως θρηνεῖ λέγων· Οὕτως εἶπε Κύριος, φωνὴ ἐν Ραμα ἠκούσθη θρῆνος καὶ οὐαὶ καὶ κλαυθμὸς καὶ ὀδυρμός· Ραχηλ ἀποκλαιομένη οὐκ ἠθέλησε παύσασθαι ἐπὶ τῶν υἱῶν, ὅτι οὐκ εἰσίν. οὕτως εἶπε Κύριος, διαλειπέτω ἡ φωνή σου ἀπὸ κλαυθμοῦ καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου ἀπὸ δακρύων σου ὅτι ὁ μισθὸς τοῖς σοῖς ἔργοις, καὶ ἐπιστρέψουσιν ἐκ γῆς ἐχθρῶν, μονίμοις τοῖς σοῖς τέκνοις. 19.t ιθ ὅτι ταραχθήσεται Ηρῳδης καὶ οἱ μετ' αὐτοῦ πάντες- 19.1 Ιερεμιας λέγει· Ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ, λέγει Κύριος, ἀπολεῖται ἡ καρδία τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἡ καρδίαν τῶν ἀρχόντων, καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς ἐκστήσονται, καὶ οἱ προφῆται θαυμάσονται. 20.t κ ὅτι ὑποκρίσει ζητήσει προσκυνῆσαι- 20.1 ∆αυιδ λέγει ἐν τῷ ξε ψαλμῷ· Ἐν τῷ πλήθει τῆς δυνάμεώς σου ψεύσονται οἱ ἐχθροί σου. 21.t κα ὅτι θυμωθήσεται ἀπατηθείς- 21.1 ∆αυιδ ἐν τῷ ρια ψαλμῷ λέγει· Ἁμαρτωλὸς ὄψεται καὶ ὀργισθήσεται, τοὺς ὀδόντας αὐτοῦ βρύξει καὶ τακήσεται. 22.t κβ ὅτι ἐρευνήσει καὶ ἀναζητήσει- 22.1 ∆αυιδ λέγει ἐν τῷ ξγ ψαλμῷ· Εἶπαν τίς ὄψεται αὐτούς, ἣ διηγήσεται τοῦ κρύψαι παγίδας; ἐξέλιπον ἐξερευνῶντες ἐξερευνήσει. 23.t κγ ὅτι ἀνελεῖ τὰ βρέφη- 23.1 Ἐρρέθη ἐν τῷ ιη κεφαλαίῳ. 24.t κδ ὅτι οὐκ ἀνελεῖ τὸν Χριστόν- 24.1 ∆αυιδ λέγει ἐν τῷ λ ψαλμῷ· Κατανοεῖ ὁ ἁμαρτωλὸς τὸν δίκαιον τοῦ ἀπολέσαι αὐτόν, ὁ δὲ Κύριος οὐ μὴ ἐγκαταλείπῃ αὐτὸν εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ. 24.2 Καὶ πάλιν ἐν τῷ ρια ψαλμῷ· Ἐπιθυμία ἁμαρτωλῶν ἀπολεῖται. 25.t κε ὅτι εἰς Αἴγυπτον καταβήσεται ὁ Χριστός- 25.1 Ησαϊας λέγει· Ἰδοὺ Κύριος κάθηται ἐπὶ νεφέλης κούφης καὶ ἥξει εἰς Αἴγυπτον, καὶ σεισθήσονται πάντα τὰ χειροποίητα Αἰγύπτου. 25.2 Καὶ πάλιν· Γνωσθήσεται Κύριος τοῖς Αἰγυπτίοις, καὶ φοβηθήσονται οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι τὸν Κύριον ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ. 26.t κ ὅτι ἐξ Αἰγύπτου κληθήσεται- 26.1 Ιωηλ λέγει· Ἐξ Αἰγύπτου ἐκάλεσα τὸν υἱόν μου. 26.2 Καὶ Βαλααμ λέγει· Ὁ Θεὸς ὡδήγησεν αὐτὸν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου, ὡς δόξαν μονοκέρωτος αὐτοῦ. 27.t κζ ὅτι βαπτιζόμενος ἁγιάσει τὰ ὕδατα- 27.1 Ιεζεκιηλ λέγει ἰδών· Ἰδοὺ ὕδωρ καταφερόμενον ἀπὸ τοῦ κλίτους τοῦ δεξιοῦ· καὶ ἐγένετο καθὼς ἔξοδος ἀνδρὸς ἡ ἔξοδος αὐτοῦ. καὶ διῆλθεν ἐν τῷ ὕδατι ὕδωρ ἀφέσεως. Καὶ εἶπε Κύριος πρός με· υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, τοῦτο τὸ ὕδωρ τὸ πορευόμενον ἐπὶ γῆν Γαλιλαίαν ἁγιάσει τὰ ὕδατα· καὶ ἔσται πᾶσα ψυχὴ ἐφ' ἧ ἂν ἐπέλθῃ τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦτο ζησέται καὶ ἰαθήσεται. 28.t κη ὅτι ἐνδόξως ἀπὸ τοῦ βαπτίσματος ἀναβήσεται-
