Therefore it is necessary for us, having prepared ourselves for battle against these passions, and having fortified ourselves against them with the strength from philosophical reasonings, thus to live through the present life, and to be contestants our whole life; so that having toiled for a short time, we may be crowned eternally, and may enjoy the incorruptible goods, and being always with the Lord, and enjoying that fellowship which surpasses all reason and understanding; of which may it be that we all partake, by the grace and loving-kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom and with whom to the Father be the glory, together with the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

∆εῖ τοίνυν ἡμᾶς πρὸς τὰ πάθη ταῦτα ἀποδυσαμένους, καὶ τὴν ἀπὸ τῶν φιλοσόφων λογισμῶν ἰσχὺν αὐτοῖς ἐπιτειχίσαντας, οὕτω τὸν παρόντα διανύειν βίον, καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ζωὴν ἐναγωνίους εἶναι· ἵνα ὀλίγον χρόνον πονήσαντες, διηνεκῶς στεφανωθῶμεν, καὶ τῶν ἀκηράτων ἀπολαύσωμεν ἀγαθῶν, καὶ πάντοτε σὺν Κυρίῳ ὄντες, καὶ τῆς συνουσίας ἐκείνης ἀπολαύοντες τῆς πάντα ὑπερβαινούσης λόγον καὶ διάνοιαν· ἧς γένοιτο πάντας ἡμᾶς μετασχεῖν, χάριτι καὶ φιλανθρωπίᾳ τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, δι' οὗ καὶ μεθ' οὗ τῷ Πατρὶ ἡ δόξα, ἅμα τῷ ἁγίῳ Πνεύματι, νῦν καὶ ἀεὶ, καὶ εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων.
