Abraham was promised beforehand. And Reu, having become 132 years old, begat Serug, and after this he lived 207 years, and died, having lived in all 339 years. And Serug, having become 130 years old, begat Nahor, and after this he lived 200 years, and died, having lived in all 330 years. And Nahor, the son of Serug, having become 79 years old, begat Terah, and after this he lived 129 years, and died, having lived in all 208 years. And Terah, having become 70 years old, begat Abraham and Nahor and Haran, the father of Lot, who also died before his father Terah, and after this Terah lived 135 years, and died, having lived in all 205 years.

And in the aforementioned times there was a certain giant, 17 Nimrod by name, son of Cush the Ethiopian, of the tribe of Ham, who, having founded the city Babylon and having been the first to show the hunt and the magic of the Persians, was preeminent, having taught them astronomy and astrology, as the celestial motion supposedly signifies everything concerning those who are born; from which the Greeks, having learned genethlialogy, began to distinguish those who are born according to the movement of the stars. Therefore, astronomy and astrology and magic began from the Magusaeans, that is, the Persians; for the Persians are called Magog by the natives, who say that Nimrod was deified and became among the stars of heaven what they call Orion, concerning whom Moses says that the beginning of his kingdom was Babylon and Calneh in the land of Shinar, from whence came the Philistines from the tribe of Shem of Asshur, from whom are the Assyrians. And having conquered Syria and Persia and the other parts of the east there appeared another, a son of one called Ouranos and of Aphrodite, his wife, a giant, named Cronus after the name of the wandering star; and he too, having become very powerful and having subjected and mastered many, was the first to show what it is to rule and hold power over other men. who, having first reigned over Syria for 56 years, subjected all 18 of Persia, beginning from Syria. And having a wife Semiramis, who was also called Rhea by the Assyrians, he had two sons and one daughter, and the one he addressed as Dia after the name of the wandering star, and the other he named Ninus, and the daughter Hera, whom Picus, who is also Zeus, took as his wife, his own sister. And after Cronus, Ninus his son reigned for 52 years. who, having taken his own mother Semiramis as wife, it became a law for the Persians to take their own mothers and sisters, because Dia, who is also called Picus, also took his own sister Hera. And Ninus, having become ruler of Syria, and having founded a very great city, a three days' journey, called it Nineveh after his own name, and he is the first to reign in it. from whom was also Zoroaster, the famous astronomer of the Persians; who, when he was about to die, prayed to be consumed by celestial fire, saying to the Persians, If the fire burns me, take from my burning bones and guard them, and the kingdom will not fail from your country, as long as my bones are guarded. And having prayed to Orion he was consumed by aerial fire, and the Persians, having taken from his incinerated bones, hold and guard them until now.

19 And after Ninus a certain Thouras by name reigned over the Assyrians for 30 years, whom they also renamed Ares, after the name of the wandering star. To this Ares the Assyrians first erected a stele and worshipping him as a god until the present day, they call him in Persian the god Baal, that is, Ares the warlike. whom Daniel also mentions as being worshipped and served by the Persians.
