of the Holy Spirit who was given to us. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died _for the ungodly_. 5.7 For _one will scarcely die for a righteous person_; _for the_ 5.8 good person perhaps someone might even dare to die; but God demonstrates _his own_ love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ 5.9 died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by 5.10 his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life. 5.11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus, through whom we have now received reconciliation. 5.12 _ Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the_ world, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned— 5.13 for until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed 5.14 when there is no law; but death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the likeness of the transgression 5.15 of Adam, who is a type of the one to come; But _not as the_ trespass, so also is the gift; for if by the trespass of the one the many died, how much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to 5.16 the many. And not as _through one who sinned_ is the gift; for the judgment from one led to condemnation, but the gift 5.17 _from many trespasses_ led _to justification._ _For if in the trespass of one_, death reigned through the one, how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ. 5.18 So then as through one trespass condemnation came to all men, so also through one act of righteousness justification of life came to all men. 5.19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through 5.20 the obedience of the one the many will be made righteous. _But the law came in so that the trespass might increase_; _but where_ sin increased, 5.21 grace abounded all the more, so that, just as _sin reigned_ in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 6.1 What then shall we say? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may 6.2 abound? May it never be! We who died to sin, how shall we still 6.3 live in it? Or do you not know that all of us who were baptized into Christ 6.4 Jesus were baptized into his death? _We were therefore buried_ with him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too might walk 6.5 _in newness of life_. For if _we have become united_ in the likeness of his death, then _also of the resurrection_ 6.6 we shall be; knowing this, that _our old man_ was crucified with him, so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer 6.7 be slaves to sin; for he who has died has been set free from 6.8 sin. But if _we have died with Christ_, we believe that 6.9 _we will also live with_ him, knowing that _Christ, having been raised from the dead_, 6.10 dies no more; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death that he died, 6.11 he died to sin once for all; but the life that he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive 6.12 to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal
