of Christ <we do not> bear and we do not turn away from the loosing, except in word, perhaps some of us are gathered together in the church in vain.
9.1 And I will not leave this without a witness. 9.121 Come, I will set before you from the Gospel. 9.122 He compared his own kingdom to a dragnet let down into the world and gathering very many from every crowd. 9.123 When it is on the shore, he says, you pick out the good, but you cast out the rotten. 9.124 He himself says: Many are called, but few are chosen; few, not because of the one who chooses, but because the chosen are not to be found. 9.125 For just as many things are gathered on the threshing floor, but few are brought into the storehouse, so we are many who are gathered in the Church, but few will be brought into the kingdom. 9.126 For the ship of the kingdom has room and hastens upon passable ways, and the north winds are not trifled with. 9.127 The ship is not envious, but the light thing is carried away. 9.128 Let no one therefore be light, lest he become like the chaff separated outside. 9.129 For no one is found to be hidden. 9.130 For the winnowing fork is in the hand, that of the God who cleanses the threshing floor; the fruitful is mixed with the fruitful; the chaff is separated by the judgment of the spirit, and is handed over to fire, as you hear. 9.131 And in another way we learned the precision of our investigation in the Gospel. 9.132 For the king, he says, entered to see those who were reclining and found one who thought he was hidden. 9.133 The king spoke. 9.134 He suffered, as he heard; for what was said to him was grim. 9.135 I hesitate even to utter it with my tongue, and for this reason I will not convey it in speech. 9.136 For those who love learning know the dreadful word spoken to that one and to those who have become like him. 9.137 The banquet is not lacking, but the one reclining was unworthy of the banquet. 9.138 The king is not envious, but the one who entered did not prepare himself as worthy, since being wicked he was reclining. 9.139 May no one, therefore, suffer this, no wicked person, lest he be muzzled. 9.140 So muzzle the appetites of the flesh, you who wish to live piously. 9.141 For Paul cries out to flee youthful lusts. 10.142 I did not desire to speak so, but I was compelled to speak thus, so that you, having heard the grim thing, might flee the terrible thing.
10.143 And when must one flee? 10.144 Now is the day of salvation. 10.145 Whoever wishes to be with Christ, you know that a time is coming when no one can work. 10.146 The night is coming when each will receive the things done through the body, according to what he has done. 10.147 A day is coming when no one is able to postpone until tomorrow. 10.148 For in death there is no one who remembers you, and in Hades who will confess to you? 10.149 If, therefore, the boundary is so, brothers, and we are not able to pass by it, nor having passed by it is it possible to be hidden, let us come before His face in confession. 10.150 Let us anticipate, lest we be anticipated. 10.151 Let us conquer evil things with good things, lest we be found in evil things. 10.152 Let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, so that, appearing pure to the Pure One, we may receive a pure crown through Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom be glory to the Father for ages of ages. Amen
