13 Let us take up a cheerful way of life like olive branches, "to make our face cheerful with oil," as the psalmist says, and again; "Serve the Lord with gladness." Let us again take up in the inner man the divine and spiritual work, like the branches of the palm trees, and let us follow him giving thanks; and instead of whiteness, right and undefiled and simple faith; but instead of sharpness, patient hope, which pricks and slaughters every thought that is lifted up to take us captive from the knowledge of God; and instead of the sweetness of the palm, sweet love, which is composed of the aforementioned faith and hope and the rest, so that what was said might be fulfilled in us: "The righteous will flourish like a palm tree; he will be multiplied like a cedar in Lebanon." Let us follow him into the holy city, let us enter with him into the temple, so that he may overturn the tables of the money-changers within us, and may drive away from us the demons who sell the doves, the thoughts that fly about in error, along with all those who sell and buy within us, and instead of a den of thieves may make us, according to the ancient temple, a holy temple in which Christ dwells and walks about, so that he might grant light to our blind, and make the deaf to hear and the lame to walk, and raise the dead with Lazarus—for where life dwells, there is resurrection—, so that with Lazarus and the crowds and his disciples, and with infants and nursing children, and with the holy angels we may cry out, shouting: "Hosanna in the highest; blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord," Christ, Lord and God, the "king of the ages"; to him be glory, honor and worship, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
