in the body to obey its 6.13 desires, nor present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and 6.14 your members as instruments of righteousness to God, for sin over you 6.15 will not have dominion. For you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under law but under grace? By no 6.16 means. Do you not know that to whomever you present yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, whether of sin or of obedience 6.17 to righteousness? But thanks be to God that you were slaves of sin, but you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered, 6.18 and having been set free from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness. 6.19 I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness for lawlessness, so now present your members 6.20 as slaves to righteousness for sanctification. For when you were slaves of 6.21 sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. What fruit, then, did you have at that time? Things of which you are now ashamed; for the end of those things is death. 6.22 But now, having been set free from sin and enslaved to God, you have your fruit for sanctification, and the end, eternal 6.23 life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. 7.1 Or are you ignorant, brothers—for I speak to those who know the law—that the 7.2 law has dominion over a person for as long as he lives? For a married woman is bound by law to her living husband; but if the husband dies, she is released from the law concerning the husband. 7.3 So then, while her husband is alive she will be called an adulteress if she belongs to another man; but if her husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an 7.4 adulteress if she belongs to another man. So, my brothers, you also were put to death to the law through the body of Christ, so that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit 7.5 for God. For when we were in the flesh, the passions of sins, which were through the law, were at work in our members to 7.6 bear fruit for death. But now we have been released from the law, having died to that in which we were held, so that we serve in newness of spirit and not in oldness of the letter. 7.7 What then shall we say? Is the law sin? By no means! But I did not know sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness 7.8 if the law had not said, "You shall not covet." But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all 7.9 covetousness. For apart from the law sin is dead. And I was alive apart from the 7.10 law once; but when the commandment came, sin came to life, and I died, and the commandment that was for life was found by me to be for 7.11 death. For sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, 7.12 deceived me and through it killed me. So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good. 7.13 Therefore did that which is good become death to me? By no means! But sin, in order that it might appear as sin, was working death in me through that which is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful. 7.14 For we know that the law is spiritual; but I am of the flesh, sold 7.15 under sin. For what I am doing, I do not understand; for 7.16 I am not practicing what I wish, but I am doing the very thing I hate. But if I do the very thing I do not wish, 7.17 I agree with the law, that it is good. So now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin which dwells in me. 7.18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. 7.19 For not what I want
