And he who was formed in the image of God, it is clear that he had knowledge of good and evil already established in his nature; therefore, lest he use his free will and take from the tree of life and become immortal in evil, he was cast out with Eve into the land of his creation. For what does the divine Scripture say after all these things? And the Lord God sent him out from the paradise of delight to work the ground from which he was taken; and he drove out Adam and made him dwell opposite the paradise of delight and placed the Cherubim and the flaming sword which turned, to guard the way to the tree of life. 914 [19] Concerning the Cherubim and the sword.
