That for one hundred years the ark was being prepared, and it was completed in the 599th year of Noah's life, in a certain month, May 26th, on the first day; and the cubit of the ark is a very large fathom according to the Egyptians. And for 40 days the rain came down, and for 40 nights. And in the month of April, on the first day of the week, Noah came out of the ark. But some say that on the same day the ark was first closed, on that very day in the following season it was opened, in the two thousand two hundred forty-third year of the creation of the world. And offering sacrifices to God, he beseeches him to no longer make a flood. Therefore God, accepting the virtue of the man, promised this, placing the bow of the rainbow as a sign.
That Noah was called Xisouthros by the Chaldeans. That before the flood there was neither nation nor kingdom; but there was a period of years. And it is contained in the apocryphal book of Enoch that Uriel the angel revealed to Enoch what a month and a season and a year is, and that the year has 52 weeks.
That Egypt, by Mestrem the second son of Ham according to the scripture, and uncle of Nebrod, son of Cush, son of Ham the first, having been settled and ruled, is called Mestraia to this day by the Hebrews and Syrians and Arabs.
That in the two thousand two hundred fifty-first year Noah planted a vineyard in Mount Luban of Armenia, and having sacrificed to God and drunk wine, he was naked.
That while Nebrod was ruling, Babylon and the tower were built over forty-three years. And Nebrod was the son of Ham, and a descendant of Enoch. And Nebrod was also called Euechios. 1.22 And all the nations of the builders were seventy, and they all had one language. And Nebrod the giant, the son of Cush the Ethiopian, hunting for food, supplied them with animals. And Eber, the son of Sala, was put in charge of the building in the 3rd year. Then, when the languages were confused by God and all were scattered, Nebrod himself dwelt there, not departing from the tower, ruling over some part of the multitude; upon whom the tower, by a violent wind, as some relate and Josephus himself, fell down and was shattered, and by divine judgment it struck him. This was the first kingdom on earth, since Adam was formed; and those who say that others have also existed are lying. From him is born Assur, who builds the cities Nineveh and Roboth and Chalach. And it is clear that 630 years after the flood the beginning of the kingdom of the Chaldeans, that is, the Babylonians, came about through Nebrod. And they say that only Eber, the father of Phalek, did not agree with the act of the tower-building; for which reason also, when the language of the others was confused, that of Eber was not lost. And this is the one which Adam also spoke; and his succeeding descendants patronymically called themselves Hebrews and called the language Hebrew. And a proof that this was the language before the confusion are the ancient names; for what cannot be interpreted in any other language, is explained in this one; for instance Adam, in no other language is its meaning found, but in 1.23 this it is interpreted as man; and the name of Noah signifies justice, and Cush Ethiopian, and Mestrem Egypt, and Phalek division, and Babylon confusion.
That after the flood until the dispersion, only the three led the many piously, Noah, Shem, and Arphaxad the son of Shem, for 534 years. And it was the year of the world 2776; for in the year #222592 Noah the righteous fell asleep, being nine hundred and fifty years old. And this is the number of the 534 years: Noah, the years after the flood, 350, Shem 150 years, and Arphaxad 33 years. Together 533 years, the beginning of the others being taken in the fourth year. And these are the writers of the Egyptians and Chaldeans, Manetho who composed the history of the Egyptians, Berossus
