Βεελζεβοὺλ δὲ καταπίνοντα μυίας οἱ περὶ Ἀκύλαν ἐξέδωκαν ἢ ἄρχοντα νεκρῶν ὡς ἐν ταῖς Βασιλείοις εὕρομεν. 55 Mt 10, 26 Τάχα καὶ περὶ τοῦ καιροῦ ἐκείνου λέγει, ὅτε κρινεῖ ὁ θεὸς τὰ κρυπτὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων καὶ φωτίσει τὰ κρυπτὰ τοῦ σκότους καὶ φανερώσει τὰς βουλὰς τῶν καρδιῶν. 56 Mt 10, 28 ∆ιὰ δὲ τῆς γεέννης τὸ διηνεκὲς τῆς κολάσεως ἐδήλωσεν, γέενναν εἰπὼν ὡς ἀναμένουσαν δίκην τῶν διὰ γεννήσεως τὴν ἀπόδοσιν δεχομένων. καὶ τοῖς ὀνόμασι δὲ πολλὴν ἔδειξε τοῦ τρόπου τὴν διαφοράν, ἐνταῦθα μὲν ἀποκτεννόντων εἰπών, ἐκεῖ δὲ ἀπολλυμένων οὐδέ ἐστιν ἔτι <σωτηρία>.

57 Mt 11, 2-3 Ἕτεροι δέ φασιν· ὅτι μὴ ἀγνοῶν μηδὲ μαθεῖν βουλόμενος τοὺς

μαθητὰς ὁ Ἰωάννης ἀπέστειλεν, οἶμαι δῆλον εἶναι καὶ τῷ ποσῶς γοῦν ταῖς θείαις ἐνεσχηκότι γραφαῖς· τοῦτο γὰρ ἔργον ἦν αὐτοῦ τὸ δεῖξαι πᾶσι παρόντα τὸν Χριστόν. εὔηθες δὲ κἀκεῖνο, ὅτι μέλλων ὁ Ἰωάννης διὰ τοῦ θανάτου πρὸς τοὺς τετελευτηκότας χωρεῖν τούτους ἀπέστειλεν ἐρωτᾶν, εἰ αὐτὸς ἐκεῖνός ἐστιν ὁ μέλλων καὶ τοὺς ὑπὸ τοῦ θανάτου κρατουμένους ἐλευθεροῦν ὥστε κἀκείνοις εὐαγγελίσασθαι· ὁ γὰρ εἰπὼν ἴδε ὁ ἀμνὸς τοῦ θεοῦ ὁ αἴρων τὴν ἁμαρτίαν τοῦ κόσμου σαφῶς <ᾔδει> τὸ πάθος ὑπὲρ πάντων μᾶλλον προσάγεσθαι τῷ θεῷ. ὅλως δὲ εἴπερ ἠπίστατο αὐτὸν εἶναι τὸν Χριστόν, οὐδὲν ἠγνόει τῶν κατὰ τὸν <Χριστόν>· ᾔδει γὰρ ἀκριβῶς ὅσα δι' αὐτοῦ γενήσεται τοῖς ἀνθρώποις καλά, ἃ καὶ λέγοντα τοῖς ἀνθρώποις διαφόρως ἔστιν ἰδεῖν αὐτὸν ἀπὸ τῶν ῥηθέντων περὶ αὐτοῦ τοῖς εὐαγγελισταῖς. πῶς οὖν κάτοπτον τὸν Ἰωάννην, ὃς τοσαύτην εἶχε τὴν γνῶσιν περὶ τοῦ Χριστοῦ ὡς πολλὰ μὲν εἰπεῖν περὶ αὐτοῦ, δεῖξαι δὲ αὐτὸν καὶ παρόντα νῦν μετὰ τὴν μαρτυρίαν καὶ τὸ πλῆθος τῶν ῥημάτων ἐκείνων, ἀγνοεῖν τὰ κατὰ τὸν Χριστόν, ὑπονοεῖν <δὲ> καὶ βούλεσθαι μαθεῖν παρ' αὐτοῦ; ὃ δὴ καὶ αὐτὸ πάλιν οὐκ
