best and most child-loving of fathers, because you have clothed and wrapped them all around you, as a bride her adornment. Say you also to us: Behold, I and the children whom God has given me. Add also another Lordly and very fitting saying: Those whom you have given me I have kept, and I have lost none of them.
22. May no one perish, but may we all remain in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the Gospel, being of one accord, of one mind, armed with the shield of faith, having girded your loins with truth, knowing only one war, that against the evil one, and those commanded by him, not fearing those who are able to kill the body, but are not able to take hold of the soul, but fearing the Lord of both soul and body; guarding the good deposit, which we have received from the Fathers, worshipping the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit; knowing the Father in the Son, the Son in the Spirit, into which we have been baptized, in which we have believed, with which we have been ranked, dividing before we unite, and uniting before we divide, neither the three as one (for they are not without hypostasis, or of one hypostasis, so that our richness is in names, but not in realities), and the three are one. One not in hypostasis, but in Godhead; a Monad worshipped in a Trinity, and a Trinity summed up into a Monad, all worthy of worship, all royal, of the same throne, of the same glory, supramundane, beyond time, uncreated, invisible, intangible, incomprehensible, known to Itself alone as to Its own order, but equally august and adorable to us, and alone entering the Holy of Holies. leaving all creation outside 35.752, separated, some by the first, and some by the second veil; by the first, the heavenly and angelic from the Godhead, and by the second, our own from the heavenly. Let us do these things, and be so disposed, brethren, and as for those who think otherwise, as a plague upon the truth, as long as it is possible, let us receive and heal them; but let us turn away from those who are incurable, lest we partake of their disease, before we have imparted our own health; and the God of peace shall be with us, which surpasses all understanding in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
