substance, one kingdom, one dominion, one 36.724 energy, one hypostasis, one will, one nature of the Word of God incarnate, and adored. And having been crucified under Pontius Pilate, and having confessed the good confession; having suffered and been buried and risen on the third day, and having ascended into the heavens, and sat at the right hand of the majesty of the Father, having trampled death, and despoiled Hades, having shattered gates of bronze, and crushed bars of iron, and having recalled the captive Adam from corruption, and having freed us from the slavery of the devil. Wherefore we beseech and entreat you, O lover of mankind, O good one, deem us worthy with a pure heart to dare fearlessly to call upon the heavenly God, the master of all, the holy Father, and to say, etc.

Another prayer of the breaking. For you are the Word of the Father, the pre-eternal God, the

great High Priest, who for the salvation of the human race was incarnate and became man, and called to himself from all the nations a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession. Wherefore we beseech, and entreat you, O lover of mankind, good Lord, let not this sacrifice be for the censure and reproach, nor for the judgment, nor for the condemnation of our sins; for on behalf of * our weaknesses have we offered it; but just as you have deemed these all-holy, precious gifts of yours worthy to be filled with all holiness, through the coming upon them of your all-holy Spirit, so also deem us sinners, your servants, worthy to sanctify our souls, our bodies, our spirits, our consciences, so that with an enlightened soul, an unashamed face, a pure heart, a sincere conscience, sanctified lips, perfect love, sure hope, we may dare with boldness, without fear, to say the holy prayer which you imparted to your own holy disciples and sacred apostles. redeemer of his own Church; O Word, who they provide for, and man, who they foresee. You who through your incomprehensible incarnation, prepared for us a heavenly bread, this your body, which you established as a mystery* and all-holy in all things. You mixed for us a cup from the true vine, from your divine and immaculate side. You who also after giving up the spirit poured out from it blood and water, by which is sanctification for the whole world. Possess us, good Lord, your unworthy servants; make us a peculiar people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. Sanctify us also, O God, just as you sanctified these present and holy gifts, and made them invisible from the visible, mysteries of which* they provide, they are for you, Lord God, our Savior 36.725 Jesus Christ. You, therefore, O Lord, through your great compassion deemed us worthy through baptism to become sons and heirs. You taught us the form of prayer which is mystical, to pray in it to your immaculate Father. You therefore now also, Master Lord, deem us worthy with a sanctified conscience, and with a good thought which is proper ..... with longing and good boldness to dare to call upon the holy God in the heavens, your Father, and to say.

λυτρωτὴς τῆς ἑαυτοῦ Ἐκκλησίας· ὦ Λόγε, ὃν προνοοῦσιν αὐτὸν, καὶ ἄνθρωπε, ὃν προθεωροῦσιν αὐτόν. Ὁ διὰ τῆς ἀκαταλήπτου αὐτοῦ σαρκώσεως, ἑτοιμάσας ἡμῖν ἄρτον ἐπουράνιον, τοῦτο τὸ σῶμά σου, ὃν ἔθου ἐν μυστήριον* καὶ πανάγιον ἐν τοῖς ἅπασιν. Ἐκέρασας ἡμῖν ποτήριον ἐξ ἀμπέλου ἀλη θείας, ἐκ θείας καὶ ἀχράντου σου πλευρᾶς. Ὁ καὶ μετὰ δεδωκέναι τὸ πνεῦμα ἐκχέων ἐξ αὐτῆς αἷμα καὶ ὕδωρ, οἷς ἁγιασμὸς τῷ κόσμῳ παντί. Ἐδίδαξας ἡμᾶς τὸν τύπον τῆς προσευχῆς ὅς ἐστιν ἐμμυστήριος, τοῦ προσεύχεσθαι ἐν αὐτῇ τὸν ἄχραν τόν σου Πατέρα.
