This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. For leaving the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men; and the rest. That one must observe all things without omission, which have been delivered by the Lord through the Gospel and the apostles. Chapter 3. MATTHEW. Go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you. LUKE. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless ... He who hears you hears me; and he who rejects you rejects me. TO THE THESSALONIANS 2. So then, brothers, stand firm, and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or by letter, as by us. That one must not approve one's own will contrary to the will of the Lord; but in every matter seek and do the will of God. Chapter 4. JOHN. For I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who sent me. LUKE. And kneeling down, he prayed, saying: Father, if you are willing, remove this cup. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours be done. TO THE EPHESIANS. RULE 13. That one must always be sober and be ready in zeal for the

righteous deeds of God, recognizing the danger of procrastination. Chapter 1. LUKE. Let your loins be girded and your lamps

burning; and you yourselves be like men waiting for their master, when he will return from the wedding; so that when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open to him. Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Truly I say to you, that he will gird himself and have them recline at the table, and will come and serve them. And if he comes in the second watch, and comes in the third watch, and finds them so, blessed are those servants. But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect, and the rest. TO THE THESSALONIANS 1. But of the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that I write to you; for you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. And after a little: let us watch and be sober. That one must consider every time suitable for zeal for the things pleasing to God. Chapter 2. JOHN. I must work the works of him who sent me, while it is day. TO THE PHILIPPIANS. RULE 14. That one must not mix incongruous things, but of each of the things being done or

Ἦσαν δὲ δίκαιοι ἀμφότεροι ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ, πορευόμενοι ἐν πάσαις ταῖς ἐντολαῖς καὶ δικαιώμασι τοῦ Κυρίου ἄμεμπτοι ... Ὁ ἀκούων ὑμῶν ἐμοῦ ἀκούει· ὁ δὲ ἀθετῶν ὑμᾶς ἐμὲ ἀθετεῖ. ΠΡΟΣ ΘΕΣΣ. βʹ. Ἄρα οὖν, ἀδελ φοὶ, στήκετε, καὶ κρατεῖτε τὰς παραδόσεις, ἃς ἐδιδάχθητε εἴτε διὰ λόγου εἴτε δι' ἐπιστολῆς, ὡς δι' ἡμῶν. Ὅτι οὐ δεῖ θέλημα ἴδιον παρὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ Κυρίου ἐγκρίνειν· ἀλλ' ἐν παντὶ πράγματι ζητεῖν καὶ ποιεῖν τὸ θέλημα τοῦ Θεοῦ. Κεφάλ. ∆ʹ. ΙΩΑΝΝΗΣ. Ὅτι οὐ ζητῶ τὸ θέλημα τὸ ἐμὸν, ἀλλὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός με Πατρός. ΛΟΥΚΑΣ. Καὶ θεὶς τὰ γόνατα, προσηύξατο λέγων· Πάτερ, εἰ βούλει, παρένεγκε τὸ ποτήριον τοῦτο. Πλὴν μὴ τὸ θέλημα τὸ ἐμὸν, ἀλλὰ τὸ σὸν γενέσθω. ΠΡΟΣ ΕΦΕΣ. Ἐν οἷς καὶ ἡμεῖς πάν τες ἀνεστράφημέν ποτε ἐν ταῖς ἐπιθυμίαις τῆς 31.725 σαρκὸς ἡμῶν, ποιοῦντες τὸ θέλημα τῆς σαρκὸς καὶ τῶν διανοιῶν ἡμῶν· καὶ ἦμεν τέκνα φύσει ὀργῆς, ὡς καὶ οἱ λοιποί.

ΟΡΟΣ ΙΓʹ. Ὅτι δεῖ νήφειν ἀεὶ, καὶ ἕτοιμον εἶναι ἐν τῇ σπουδῇ τῶν

κατορθωμάτων τοῦ Θεοῦ, γνωρίζοντα τῆς ἀναβολῆς τὸ ἐπικίνδυνον. Κεφάλ. Αʹ. ΛΟΥΚΑΣ. Ἔστωσαν ὑμῶν αἱ ὀσφύες περιεζω σμέναι, καὶ οἱ λύχνοι

καιόμενοι· καὶ ὑμεῖς ὅμοιοι ἀνθρώποις προσδεχομένοις τὸν κύριον ἑαυτῶν, πότε ἀναλύσει ἐκ τῶν γάμων· ἵνα ἐλθόντος, καὶ κρούσαντος, εὐθέως ἀνοίξωσιν αὐτῷ. Μακάριοι οἱ δοῦλοι ἐκεῖνοι, οὓς ἐλθὼν ὁ κύριος εὑρήσει γρηγοροῦντας. Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὅτι περιζώσεται, καὶ ἀνακλινεῖ αὐτοὺς, καὶ παρελθὼν διακονήσει αὐτοῖς. Καὶ ἐὰν ἔλθῃ ἐν τῇ δευτέρᾳ φυλακῇ, καὶ ἐν τῇ τρίτῃ φυλακῇ ἔλθῃ, καὶ εὕρῃ οὕτω, μακά ριοί εἰσιν οἱ δοῦλοι ἐκεῖνοι. Τοῦτο δὲ γινώ σκετε, ὅτι εἰ ᾔδει ὁ οἰκοδεσπότης ποίᾳ ὥρᾳ ὁ κλέπτης ἔρχεται, ἐγρηγόρησεν ἂν, καὶ οὐκ ἂν ἀφῆκε διορυγῆναι τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ. Καὶ ὑμεῖς οὖν γίνεσθε ἕτοιμοι, ὅτι ᾗ ὥρᾳ οὐ δοκεῖτε ὁ Υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἔρχεται, καὶ τὰ ἑξῆς. ΠΡΟΣ ΘΕΣΣ. αʹ. Περὶ δὲ τῶν χρόνων καὶ τῶν καιρῶν, ἀδελφοὶ, οὐ χρείαν ἔχετε γράφεσθαι ὑμῖν· αὐτοὶ γὰρ ἀκριβῶς οἴδατε, ὅτι ἡ ἡμέρα Κυρίου ὡς κλέ πτης ἐν νυκτὶ, οὕτως ἔρχεται. Καὶ μετ' ὀλίγα· γρηγορῶμεν, καὶ νήφωμεν. Ὅτι δεῖ πάντα καιρὸν εὔθετον ἡγεῖσθαι εἰς τὴν σπουδὴν τῶν ἀρεσκόντων τῷ Θεῷ. Κεφάλ. Βʹ. ΙΩΑΝΝΗΣ. Ἐμὲ δεῖ ἐργάζεσθαι τὰ ἔργα τοῦ πέμψαντός με, ἕως ἡμέρα ἐστίν. ΠΡΟΣ ΦΙΛΙΠ. Ὥστε, ἀγαπητοί μου, καθὼς πάντοτε ὑπηκούσα τε, μὴ ὡς ἐν τῇ παρουσίᾳ μου μόνον, ἀλλὰ νῦν πολλῷ μᾶλλον ἐν τῇ ἀπουσίᾳ μου, μετὰ φόβου καὶ τρόμου τὴν ἑαυτῶν σωτηρίαν κατεργάζεσθε.

ΟΡΟΣ Ι∆ʹ. Ὅτι οὐ δεῖ τὰ ἀνοίκεια μιγνύναι, ἀλλ' ἑκάστου τῶν γινομένων ἢ

λεγομένων τὸν ἴδιον καιρὸν γνωρίζειν. Κεφάλ. Αʹ. ΜΑΤΘΑΙΟΣ. Τότε προσέρχονται αὐτῷ οἱ μα θηταὶ Ἰωάννου,

λέγοντες· ∆ιὰ τί ἡμεῖς καὶ οἱ Φαρισαῖοι νηστεύομεν πολλὰ, οἱ δὲ μαθηταί σου οὐ νηστεύουσι; Καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς· Μὴ δύνανται οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ νυμφῶνος πενθεῖν, ἐφ' ὅσον μετ' αὐτῶν ἐστιν ὁ νυμφίος; Ἐλεύσονται δὲ ἡμέραι, ὅταν ἀπαρθῇ ἀπ' αὐτῶν
