CHAPTER 119. Blessed is the intellect, which at the time of prayer becomes immaterial and possessionless.
CHAPTER 120. Blessed is the intellect, which at the time of prayer has acquired perfect insensibility.
CHAPTER 121. Blessed is the monk, who considers himself the offscouring of all.
CHAPTER 122. Blessed is the monk, who sees the salvation and progress of all as his own with all joy.
CHAPTER 123. Blessed is the monk, who considers all men as God after God.
CHAPTER 124. A monk is one, who is separated from all, and united with all. CHAPTER 125. A monk is one, who considers himself to be with all because he seems to see himself unfailingly in each one.
CHAPTER 126. This one accomplishes prayer, who always offers all his first thought as fruit to God.
CHAPTER 127. Avoid every lie and every oath as a monk, and one desiring to pray, but if not, in vain you fashion the inappropriate.
CHAPTER 128. If you wish to pray in spirit, draw nothing from the flesh and you will not have a cloud opposing you at the time of prayer.
CHAPTER 129. Entrust to God the need of the body, and you will be shown to be entrusting to him that of the spirit also. 79.1196
CHAPTER 130. If you obtain the promises, you will reign, therefore looking towards these things, you will gladly bear the present poverty.
CHAPTER 131. Do not refuse poverty and affliction, the materials of unburdened prayer.
CHAPTER 132. Let the bodily virtues be pledged to you for the psychic, and the psychic for the spiritual. And these for immaterial knowledge.
CHAPTER 133. When praying against thoughts, consider, if they easily cease, from where this has come, lest you have a hidden passion and being deceived, you betray yourself.
CHAPTER 134. There are times when the demons suggest thoughts to you, and again provoke you to supposedly pray against them, or to contradict them and they willingly withdraw, so that being deceived, you might think concerning yourself, that you have begun to conquer the thoughts, and to frighten the demons.
CHAPTER 135. In prayer against a passion, or a demon vexing you, remember the one who says: "I will pursue my enemies and overtake them, and I will not turn back until they are consumed, I will crush them, and they shall not be able to stand, they will fall under my feet," and the rest. These things you will say at the right time, arming yourself with humility against the adversaries.
CHAPTER 136. Do not think you have acquired a virtue, unless you have first fought for it unto blood, for it is necessary to resist sin unto death, contentiously, and blamelessly according to the divine Apostle.
CHAPTER 137. If you help someone, you will be harmed by another, so that being wronged you might give in, or do something unfitting, and scatter badly, what you have gathered well. For this is the aim of the evil demons; therefore one must be mindfully attentive.
CHAPTER 138. Await the assaults of demons brought against you, considering how you might stand aloof from their servitude.

ΡΙΘʹ.
