your friends, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return, and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just. That one ought not to do the commandment of God for the sake of pleasing men, or for any other passion, but in everything to have the aim of pleasing God, and glorifying God. Chapter 2. MATTHEW. Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before men, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward, and what follows. TO CORINTHIANS I. So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. TO THESSALONIANS I. but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts. For we never came with words of flattery, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed—God is witness. Nor did we seek glory from people, whether from you or from others. 31.732 That one must perform the commandments of the Lord with a good conscience and disposition toward both God and men. For he who does not do so is condemned. Chapter 3. MATTHEW. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean. TO ROMANS. the one who contributes, in generosity. TO PHILIPPIANS. Do all things without grumbling or questioning. TO TIMOTHY I. The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience ... Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have made shipwreck of their faith. That from the gratitude concerning lesser things, the judgment for the reward in greater things is justified. Chapter 4. MATTHEW. Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master. And after a little: For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away from him. LUKE. If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches, And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own? That one must perform the commandments of the Lord with insatiable desire, always striving for more. Chapter 5. MATTHEW. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. TO PHILIPPIANS. I, brothers, do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call in Christ Jesus. That one must so perform the commandments of God, that, as far as it depends on the one doing them, all may be enlightened, and God may be glorified. Chapter 6. MATTHEW. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is 31.733 in heaven. LUKE. No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. TO PHILIPPIANS. so that you may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Ὅτι οὐ δεῖ τὴν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐντολὴν διὰ τὴν πρὸς ἀν θρώπους ἀρέσκειαν, ἢ δι' ἄλλο τι πάθος, ποιεῖν, ἀλλ' ἐν παντὶ σκοπὸν ἔχειν, τῷ Θεῷ ἀρέσαι, καὶ Θεὸν δοξάσαι. Κεφάλ. Βʹ. ΜΑΤΘΑΙΟΣ. Προσέχετε τὴν ἐλεημοσύνην ὑμῶν μὴ ποιεῖν ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, πρὸς τὸ θεαθῆναι αὐτοῖς· εἰ δὲ μήγε, μισθὸν οὐκ ἔχετε παρὰ τῷ Πατρὶ ὑμῶν τῷ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς. Ὅταν οὖν ποιῇς ἐλεημοσύνην, μὴ σαλπίσῃς ἔμπρο σθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ὥσπερ οἱ ὑποκριταὶ ποιοῦσιν ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ ἐν ταῖς ῥύμαις, ὅπως δοξασθῶσιν ὑπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων. Φαρισαῖε τυφλὲ, καθάρισον πρῶτον τὸ ἐντὸς τοῦ ποτηρίου καὶ τῆς παροψίδος, ἵνα γένηται καὶ τὸ ἐκτὸς αὐτοῦ καθαρόν. ΠΡΟΣ ΡΩΜ. Ὁ μεταδιδοὺς ἐν ἁπλό τητι. ΠΡΟΣ ΦΙΛΙΠ. Πάντα ποιεῖτε χωρὶς γογγυ σμῶν καὶ διαλογισμῶν. ΠΡΟΣ ΤΙΜ. αʹ. Τὸ δὲ τέ λος τῆς παραγγελίας ἐστὶν ἀγάπη ἐκ καθαρᾶς καρδίας καὶ συνειδήσεως ἀγαθῆς ... Ἔχων πί στιν καὶ ἀγαθὴν συνείδησιν, ἥν τινες ἀπωσάμε νοι περὶ τὴν πίστιν ἐναυάγησαν. Ὅτι ἀπὸ τῆς περὶ τὰ ἐλάττονα εὐγνωμοσύνης ἡ ἐπὶ τοῖς μείζοσι τῆς ἀνταποδόσεως κρίσις δικαιοῦ ται. Κεφάλ. ∆ʹ. ΜΑΤΘΑΙΟΣ. Εὖ, δοῦλε ἀγαθὲ καὶ πιστὲ, ἐπὶ ὀλίγα ἦς πιστὸς, ἐπὶ πολλῶν σε καταστήσω· εἴσελθε εἰς τὴν χαρὰν τοῦ κυρίου σου. Καὶ μετ' ὀλίγα· Τῷ γὰρ ἔχοντι παντὶ δοθήσεται, καὶ πε ρισσευθήσεται· ἀπὸ δὲ τοῦ μὴ ἔχοντος, καὶ ὃ ἔχει, ἀρθήσεται ἀπ' αὐτοῦ. ΛΟΥΚΑΣ. Εἰ οὖν ἐν τῷ ἀδίκῳ μαμμωνᾷ πιστοὶ οὐκ ἐγένεσθε, τὸ ἀλη θινὸν τίς ὑμῖν πιστεύσει, Καὶ εἰ ἐν τῷ ἀλλοτρίῳ πιστοὶ οὐκ ἐγένεσθε, τὸ ὑμέτερον τίς ὑμῖν δώ σει; Ὅτι δεῖ τὰς ἐντολὰς τοῦ Κυρίου μετὰ ἐπιθυμίας ἀκορέστου ποιεῖν, ἀεὶ πρὸς τὸ πλέον ἐπειγόμε νον. Κεφάλ. Εʹ. ΜΑΤΘΑΙΟΣ. Μακάριοι οἱ πεινῶντες καὶ διψῶν τες τὴν δικαιοσύνην. ΠΡΟΣ ΦΙΛΙΠ. Ἐγὼ, ἀδελ φοὶ, ἐμαυτὸν οὔπω λογίζομαι κατειληφέναι Ἓν δὲ, τῶν μὲν ὄπισθεν ἐπιλανθανόμενος, τοῖς δὲ ἔμπροσθεν ἐπεκτεινόμενος, κατὰ σκοπὸν διώ κω ἐπὶ τὸ βραβεῖον τῆς ἄνω κλήσεως ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ. Ὅτι δεῖ τὰς ἐντολὰς τοῦ Θεοῦ οὕτω ποιεῖν, ὥστε, ὅσον ἐπὶ τῷ ποιοῦντι, φωτίζεσθαι τοὺς πάν τας, καὶ τὸν Θεὸν δοξάζεσθαι. Κεφάλ. ʹ. ΜΑΤΘΑΙΟΣ. Ὑμεῖς ἐστε τὸ φῶς τοῦ κόσμου. Οὐ δύναται πόλις κρυβῆναι ἐπάνω ὄρους κειμέ νη· οὐδὲ καίουσι λύχνον, καὶ τιθέασιν ὑπὸ τὸν μόδιον, ἀλλ' ἐπὶ τὴν λυχνίαν, καὶ λάμπει πᾶσι τοῖς ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ. Οὕτω λαμψάτω τὸ φῶς ὑμῶν ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ὅπως ἴδωσι τὰ καλὰ ἔργα ὑμῶν, καὶ δοξάσωσι τὸν Πατέρα ὑμῶν τὸν 31.733 ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς. ΛΟΥΚΑΣ. Οὐδεὶς δὲ, λύχνον ἅψας, κρύπτει αὐτὸν σκεύει, ἢ ὑποκάτω κλίνης τίθησιν, ἀλλ' ἐπὶ λυχνίας ἐπιτίθησιν, ἵνα οἱ εἰσπορευόμενοι βλέπωσι τὸ φῶς. ΠΡΟΣ ΦΙΛΙΠ. Ἵνα ἦτε εἰλικρινεῖς, καὶ ἀπρόσκοποι εἰς ἡμέραν Χριστοῦ, πεπληρωμένοι καρπῶν δικαιοσύνης, διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ εἰς δόξαν καὶ ἔπαινον Θεοῦ.
