Chapters In Book Ii.
Chapter 1. That the Holy Ghost is in the Son, not by participation, nor from without, but Essentially and by Nature : on the words, And John bare record, I saw the Spirit descending from Heaven like a dove and It abode upon Him.
Chapter 2. That the Son is not in the number of things originate, but above all, as God and of God, on the words, He that cometh from above is above all.
Chapter 3. That the Son is God and of God by Nature, on the words, He that hath received His testimony, hath set to his seal that God is true.
Chapter 4. That not by participation are the Properties of God the Father in the Son, but Essentially and by Nature, on the words, The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into His Hand.
Chapter 5. That the Son is not in the number of worshippers, in that He is Word and God, but rather is worshipped with the Father, on the words, Ye worship ye know not what, we know what we worship.
Chapter 6. That the Son is not inferior to the Father, either in power, or in operation for any work, but is Equal in Might, and Consubstantial with Him, as of Him and that by Nature, on the words, The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He seeth the Father do : for what things soever He doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
Chapter 7. That nought of God-befitting dignities or excellences is in the Son, by participation, or from without, on the words, For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son.
Chapter 8. That the Son being God and of God by Nature, and the Exact Image of Him Who begat Him, hath equal honour and glory with Him, on the words, That all men should honour the Son even as they honour the Father.
Chapter 9. That the Son is in nothing inferior to God the Father, but is of Equal Might in operation as to all things, as God of God, on the words, I can of Mine own Self do nothing: as I hear, I judge.
ΚΥΡΙΛΛΟΥ ΑΡΧΙΕΠΙΣΚΟΠΟΥ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΕΙΑΣ ΕΙΣ ΤΟ ΚΑΤΑ ΙΩΑΝΝΗΝ ΕΥΑΓΓΕΛΙΟΝ, ΒΙΒΛΙΟΝ Αʹ. ΚΕΦΑΛΑΙΑ ΕΝ ΤΩ ΔΕΥΤΕΡΩ ΒΙΒΛΙΩ. α. Ὅτι οὐ κατὰ μετοχὴν, οὐδὲ ὡς ἐπακτὸν ἐν τῷ Υἱῷ τὸ Ἅγιον Πνεῦμά ἐστιν, ἀλλ' οὐσιωδῶς καὶ κατὰ φύσιν ἐνυπάρχει αὐτῷ, προκειμένου ῥητοῦ Καὶ ἐμαρτύρησεν Ἰωάννης Ὅτι τεθέαμαι τὸ πνεῦμα καταβαῖνον ὡσεὶ περιστερὰν ἐξ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἔμεινεν ἐπ' αὐτόν. β. Ὅτι οὐκ ἐν τοῖς γενητοῖς ἐστιν ὁ Υἱὸς, ἀλλ' ἐπάνω πάντων, ὡς Θεὸς καὶ ἐκ Θεοῦ, προκειμένου ῥητοῦ Ὁ ἄνωθεν ἐρχόμενος ἐπάνω πάντων ἐστίν. γ. Ὅτι Θεὸς καὶ ἐκ Θεοῦ κατὰ φύσιν ἐστὶν ὁ Υἱὸς, προκειμένου ῥητοῦ Ὁ λαμβάνων αὐτοῦ τὴν μαρτυρίαν ἐσφράγισεν ὅτι ὁ Θεὸς ἀληθὴς ἐστίν. δ. Ὅτι οὐ μεταληπτῶς ἐν Υἱῷ τὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ Πατρὸς ἴδια, ἀλλ' οὐσιωδῶς καὶ κατὰ φύσιν, προκειμένου ῥητοῦ Ὁ Πατὴρ ἀγαπᾷ τὸν Υἱὸν καὶ πάντα δέδωκεν ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ. ε. Ὅτι οὐκ ἐν τοῖς προσκυνοῦσίν ἐστιν ὁ Υἱὸς, ᾗ Λόγος ἐστὶ καὶ Θεὸς, προσκυνεῖται δὲ μᾶλλον μετὰ Πατρὸς, προκειμένου ῥητοῦ Ὑμεῖς προσκυνεῖτε ὃ οὐκ οἴδατε, ἡμεῖς προσκυνοῦμεν ὃ οἴδαμεν. Ϛ. Ὅτι οὐκ ἐλάττων ἢ κατὰ δύναμιν ἢ κατ' ἐνέργειαν τὴν ἐπί τισιν ὁ Υἱὸς τοῦ Πατρὸς, ἀλλ' ἰσοσθενής τε καὶ ὁμοούσιος, ὡς ἐξ αὐτοῦ καὶ κατὰ φύσιν: προκειμένου ῥητοῦ Οὐ δύναται ὁ Υἱὸς ποιεῖν ἀφ' ἑαυτοῦ οὐδὲν, ἐὰν μή τι βλέπῃ τὸν Πατέρα ποιοῦντα: ἃ γὰρ ἐκεῖνος ποιεῖ, ταῦτα καὶ ὁ Υἱὸς ὁμοίως ποιεῖ. ζ. Ὅτι τῶν θεοπρεπῶν ἀξιωμάτων ἤτοι πλεονεκτημάτων, οὐδὲν ὡς ἐκ μετοχῆς ἢ ἐπακτὸν ἐν τῷ Υἱῷ, προκειμένου ῥητοῦ Οὐδὲ γὰρ ὁ Πατὴρ κρίνει οὐδένα ἀλλὰ πᾶσαν τὴν κρίσιν δέδωκε τῷ Υἱῷ. η. Ὅτι Θεὸς καὶ ἐκ Θεοῦ κατὰ φύσιν ὑπάρχων ὁ Υἱὸς, καὶ εἰκὼν τοῦ γεννήσαντος ἀκριβὴς, ἴσην ἔχει τὴν πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ τιμὴν καὶ δόξαν, προκειμένου ῥητοῦ Ἵνα πάντες τιμῶσι τὸν Υἱὸν καθὼς τιμῶσι τὸν Πατέρα. θ. Ὅτι κατ' οὐδὲν ἐλάττων τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ Πατρὸς ὁ Υἱὸς, ἀλλ' ἰσοσθενὴς κατ' ἐνέργειαν τὴν ἐπὶ πᾶσίν ἐστιν ὡς Θεὸς ἐκ Θεοῦ, προκειμένου ῥητοῦ Οὐ δύναμαι ἐγὼ ἀπ' ἐμαυτοῦ ποιεῖν οὐδέν: καθὼς ἀκούω κρίνω.
