630 thousand, just as the same Moses wrote in his most wise chronography. FOURTH ACCOUNT OF THE TIMES OF THE KINGDOM OF THE LAND OF THE ARGIVES. And after Inachus, Phoroneus and many others reigned over the Argives until the reign of Lynceus who took to wife Hypermnestra, one of the daughters of Danaus. This Lynceus, having made war on king Danaus, killed him and took his kingdom and his daughter, just as the most wise Archilochus wrote. And after the reign of Lynceus, Triopas reigned in the land of the Argives for 5 years. And in this same fifth year of his reign, the kingdom of the Argives was dissolved, and the Sicyonians took their kingdom. The kingdom, that is, the toparchy, of the Argives thus lasted for 549 years, just as the most wise Diodorus also wrote. And of the Sicyonians, who are now called Helladic, Aegialeus was the first to reign, for 52 years, 69 and then 26 other kings until Zeuxippus, who reigned over them for 32 years. And then their priests governed the land, and their kingdom lasted for 985 years, just as the most wise Africanus wrote. But the West, that is the region of Italy, was then without a king, but was governed by the sons of Picus, also called Zeus, and by their race. In which times Moses and Aaron died in the desert; and Joshua the son of Nun governed Israel, as was said before. Who, making war, took Jericho and the aforementioned city of Jerusalem, which the same Joshua, son of Nun, renamed Jebus. And having taken the land, he himself dwelled in the city called Shechem, renaming it Neapolis. And after the death of Joshua, son of Nun, who made the people of the Jews cross the Jordan river by the command of God and come into the land of Palestine and by a mystical trumpet bring down the walls of Jericho, after him Phinehas led Israel; and after Phinehas, 13 judges, chosen from the people, governed Israel. And in their times, among the Greeks, there were Prometheus and Epimetheus and Atlas and Argus Panoptes, whom they called hundred-eyed because the man was circumspect and 70 quick-witted, and Deucalion, the son of Hellen, the son of Picus. And Argus himself invented craftsmanship in the western parts; and Atlas interpreted astronomy; for this reason they say that he holds up the sky, because he has the things of heaven in his heart; and Prometheus discovered the philosophy of letters; about whom they say that he fashioned men, in that he made them, being unlearned, to discern through philosophy and to know the events of former times; and Epimetheus discovered music; and Deucalion set forth the things concerning the partial flood, just as the most wise Eusebius, son of Pamphilus, wrote. And after the judges of the Jews had died, Barak, the son of Abinoam, led the people. And there was a certain prophetess named Deborah, who told the Jews all things that were to come. And in those times there was also among the Greeks a prophetess, Sibyl; and in these same times, Pharaoh, also called Naracho, reigned over the Egyptians; and a certain Cecrops reigned over the Athenians, who was descended from Egypt; and he was of enormous size, for which reason they also called him of two natures. And this man became the first king of the Athenians after the flood of Attica; and after the flood of Attica, the kingdom came to the Athenians. And he alone, Cecrops, reigned 71 over the Athenians, he commanded to legislate for the women under the kingdom
