Israel. But he says to his own disciples: You call me, he says, the Lord and the Teacher, and you say well; for so I am. And confirming this by deed, he forgives sins, and has given authority over unclean spirits so as to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every infirmity among the people. Was not the man lame in his feet and sitting at the Beautiful Gate healed in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth? And Aeneas shook off such a long illness, and escaped a disease completely difficult to escape, to whom the divine [Paul] said: Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. {B} True. {A} Therefore, being compelled from all sides toward the truth, and being very diligent to trace out what is pleasing in the holy Scriptures, and following the doctrines of the fathers, we believe that the one from the root of Jesse, the one from the seed of David, the one from a woman according to the flesh, the one with us under the law as a man and above us beyond the law as God, the one for our sake and with us among the dead, the one above us, through himself life-giving and life, is the Son of God in truth, neither stripping the human of divinity, nor indeed divesting the Word of humanity after the ineffable union, but confessing one and the same Son, from two realities, who has been manifested ineffably as one thing from both, that is, according to the highest union, and not a change of nature. For how great will be the gain for those who so believe, the disciple of Christ will make clear, saying: Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And that Jesus Christ, the one from David according to the flesh, is by nature and truly the Son of God, inasmuch as the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, the wise John will confirm, saying: And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding that we may know the true God, and we are in the true one, in his Son 714 Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life, and through him and with him to God the Father be the glory with the Holy Spirit unto the ages of ages. Amen.
