his throne is established forever. And these things, being similar to those from the second of Kings which were set forth before, having noted, 62 on account of there not being much variation of these from those, we shall be content with what was said regarding those. Ps. From the 2nd of Chronicles. 24. And now, O Lord God of Israel, let your word be confirmed, which you spoke to your servant David, that truly God will dwell with men upon the earth, if the heaven of heavens is not sufficient for you. And having spoken on these things once when we set forth those from the 3rd of Kings, now we will not repeat it. Ps. From Ezra. Zerubbabel in his public address says these things. 25. Men, are not women strong? Great is the earth and high is the heaven; and swift in its course is the sun; because it turns in the circle of heaven, and runs back again to its own place in one day. Is not he great that makes these things? And truth is great and stronger than all things. All the earth calls upon the truth, and heaven blesses it; and all works are shaken and tremble; and with it there is not one unjust thing. Unjust is wine; unjust is the king; unjust are women; unjust are the sons of men; and unjust are their works, all such things; and there is no truth in them; and in their injustice they will perish. And the truth remains forever, and is strong forever, and lives and prevails for ever and ever. And with it there is no partiality or distinction; but it does just things, apart from 63 all unjust and wicked things; and is approved by those who are pleased with its works; and in its judgment there is nothing unjust; and hers is the strength and the kingdom, and the power and the majesty of all ages. Blessed be the God of truth. Since our Savior and Lord, being the Word of God, is reported to have said, 'I am the truth,' it is fitting that we have set forth the preceding things concerning the truth, showing that it has a certain subsistence in itself alongside the Father. For it says, 'The truth remains, and is strong forever, and lives and prevails; and with it there is no partiality,' and what follows, to which he adds concerning the Father being God and of the very Word of God and of the truth, 'Blessed be the God of truth,' to which we ourselves will add the 'amen.' But these things are also from the writing of Ezra; but from Esther we have found not one thing concerning the subject at hand. After the selections from the historical writings, let us move on to the poetical books, because these precede the times of the other prophecies. Of these, let us first see those from the Psalms. 64 Ps. These are the chapters in the 2nd of the prophetic selections concerning Christ. From the Psalms. 1. Of the first Psalm, concerning the blameless life of Christ, and concerning his conduct of utmost virtue. 2. Concerning the passion of Christ, and his heavenly kingdom, and the Father's promise to him concerning the nations. 3. Concerning the passion and resurrection of Christ from the dead. 4. Concerning the knowledge of God sown for all people through him. 5. Concerning the death of Christ, and his resurrection from the dead, and how he has been declared lawgiver of the nations. 6. Concerning the resurrection of Christ, and the salvation of men. 7. Concerning the blameless life of Christ. 8. Concerning the descent of Christ from heaven, and his establishment over the nations and the unknown people, and the contradiction of the Jews. 9. Concerning the preaching of the apostles into all the world, and concerning Christ as a bridegroom. 10. Concerning Christ as a king. 11. Concerning Christ again as a king. 12. Concerning the things of the passion of Christ, and concerning his apostles, and the turning of the nations to God, and concerning another generation and a people to come. 13. Concerning his ascension into heaven. 14. Concerning Christ and his resurrection. 65 15. Concerning Christ as the beloved, and the crushing of the former people, and of Jerusalem. 16. Concerning the resurrection of Christ. 17. Concerning the things according to
