And when baptizing, they wet them with water up to the chest, but they forbid bringing the water to the other parts of the body as if they were accursed. For which reason, when they were baptizing in a font, they would stand the man outside of it, and lower his head once into the water down to the chest. But when it happened that someone injured his head by striking it against the font, they devised another form of baptism. For stretching the man face down upon some sort of platform, and holding his head suspended outside of it, they pour water over it, without it touching any other part. And some of them also found another manner of baptism. For having prepared a very long ribbon, and having consecrated it, they wrap the man with it down to his toenails, beginning from the chest, and then they apply the pouring of the water. These things have been reported by those who have fled their impiety, and have been joined to the sheep of our Savior and God. And they say that something else 83.421 is dared by them, which I would not dare to commit to writing; for the mere hearing of the abomination is sufficient to defile the mind. But whether these things are dared by them, or not, I for one would not insist; yet I have heard them from men who know their ways precisely. Having thus raged against the truth, Eunomius hastened to increase the disease daily. For he dared to say that he was ignorant of nothing divine, but that he knows precisely the very substance of God, and has the same knowledge about God that God Himself has about Himself. Driven into this madness by him, those who partook of his pestilence dare to say openly that they know God as He knows Himself. And he devised certain other things, in order that he might seem to have become an inventor of new doctrines. From this the Arian faction was divided in two; and some were called Arians, and others Eunomians. The Arians were also nicknamed Eudoxians in the time of Eudoxius; for being enslaved to vainglory, he was eager to apply his own name to those of like mind. The same are also called Exacionitae, having received the name from the place where they were accustomed to hold their assembly. The Eunomians were also called Aetians, as Eunomius named Aetius his teacher; the same are also named Troglitae or Troglodytes, as holding their synods in secret houses. For they are very few in number, as all detest them on account of the shamelessness of their blasphemy. And the greater part of the world is free from their bane, but a few and very small cities have some of them, who are themselves trying to remain hidden. 4. -Concerning the Psathyrians, and the other heresies descending from Arius. And from the blasphemy of Arius another fragment broke off again. And these say: The Father is God, and the Son is always created by God. For with God, to create and to beget are the same thing. The Antiochenes call these Psathyrians; for they say that the leader of the heresy had been a maker of such cakes. And again others separated from them, who were called Cyrtians by some, and Pithecians by others, because a certain little man, who also had a high back, had gone out with them, and caused this name to be applied to them. And later in time another assembly was formed, having separated from the Arians; and they have their name from their impiety. For they were named Dulians, having dared to call the only-begotten Son of God a slave of the Father. And they construct their blasphemy using the following reasoning. Every creature, they say,
