but all the members do not have the same function; so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another; having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, and so forth. TO CORINTHIANS 1. Now I appeal to you, through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that you all say the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly united in the same mind and in the same judgment. TO CORINTHIANS 1. For just as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the one body, though many, are one body; so it is also in Christ. For by one Spirit we 31.796 were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and so forth. TO PHILIPPIANS. that you all be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord, of one mind, doing nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility counting others more significant than yourselves; let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

RULE 61. That one must not despise those who work together for the grace of the Lord,

looking to their lowliness. For in these God is most well pleased. Chap. 1. MATTHEW. I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and

earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. ... And coming to his hometown, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And are not all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things? And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household. And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief. TO CORINTHIANS 1. For consider your calling, brothers, not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.

RULE 62. That those who have believed in God, and been baptized, immediately

must prepare for temptations, even from their own family, unto death. For he who is not so prepared, when the sudden circumstance

overtakes him, is easily shaken. Chap. 1. MATTHEW. And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water.

And behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and coming upon him. And behold, a voice from heaven, saying, 31.797 This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. So be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Beware of men. For they will deliver you over to councils and flog you in their synagogues. And you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness
