to them and to the nations. And after a little: Brother will deliver brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and will put them to death. And you will be hated by all on account of my name; but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved ... And whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me. JOHN. These things I have spoken to you, that you may not be made to stumble. They will put you out of the synagogues; but the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. And these things they will do to you, because they have not known the Father, nor me, and so forth. LUKE. And those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy, and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 2 CORINTHIANS. For I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, about our affliction which happened to us in Asia, that we were burdened excessively beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life; but we ourselves had the sentence of death within ourselves, so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead. 2 TIMOTHY. Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. That one must not cast himself into temptations before the time of God's permission, but also to pray not to fall into temptation. Chapter 2. MATTHEW. Pray then like this: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come. And after a little: And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. JOHN. And after these things Jesus was walking in Galilee; for He was not willing to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill Him. Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Tabernacles, was near. Therefore His brothers said to Him, "Depart from here and go into Judea, so that Your disciples also may see the works which You are doing. For no one does anything in secret, and seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world." For not even His brothers were believing in Him. So Jesus said to them, "My time 31.800 is not yet here; but your time is always ready. The world cannot hate you; but it hates Me, because I testify of it, that its works are evil. You go up to the feast; I am not yet going up to this feast, because My time has not yet fully come. And having said these things to them, He stayed in Galilee. But when His brothers had gone up, then He Himself also went up to the feast, not openly, but as if in secret. LUKE. Rise and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. That it is necessary at times to withdraw from those who plot, but having been permitted to fall into temptation, to ask for the way of escape to be able to endure, and the will of God through prayer. Chapter 3. MATTHEW. When they persecute you in this city, flee to another. But the Pharisees went out and took counsel against Him, how they might destroy Him. But Jesus, knowing it, withdrew from there. JOHN. So from that day on they planned to kill Him. Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews. LUKE. And kneeling down, He prayed, saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours, be done." 1 CORINTHIANS. No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. That the Christian must in temptations, for each of the things brought against him, remembering those things spoken in the divinely inspired Scripture for the matter at hand, thus both keep himself unharmed, and overcome his adversaries. Chapter 4. MATTHEW. Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights,
