has been said before, those not crying out like Nathanael: "You are the Son of God, you are the king of the Christians". 31.15 And the prophecy of Isaiah which says: "I saw the King, the Lord Sabaoth, with my eyes." Paul indeed attributed it to the Spirit of God, while John attributed it to the Only-begotten, as has been said before, because of the commonality of the divinity and of the one kingdom without successor. 31.16 For how is it even possible, for the one to rule, and the other to be at leisure, as among men, when the Father remains in the Son and the Son in the Father and when the Spirit proceeds from the Father and remains with the Son in a divine manner?

32.ν Concerning the doxology of this Son of God.

32.1 Therefore also concerning his glory, behold, what things again testify the

saints, "of whom," it says, "the world was not worthy," teaching us who by grace have been called sons on earth, to glorify the Only-begotten Son from the hypostasis of the Father in equal glory just as him and to look to the glory which he had before the world was, with the Father who does not envy the beloved. 32.2 For the divine is free from envy and all passion. 32.3 David in the 71st Psalm, which he admittedly prophesied concerning Christ, "his name," he says, "shall be blessed for ever; his name endures before the sun and before the moon for generations of generations. And in him all the tribes of the earth shall be blessed, and all the nations shall call him blessed. Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things, and blessed be the name of his glory for ever and for ever and ever. And the whole earth shall be filled with his glory. Let it be." 32.4 "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel," he said, instead of: "being glorified" or "being praised." 32.5 For God is blessed by his works, that is, he is glorified; but he himself blesses his own creations, that is, he sanctifies them. 32.6 But it is to be noted, that also as God of Israel, who is God of the fathers, just as his Father has been named. 32.7 And in the 85th Psalm, presenting the all-ruling and all-powerful nature of the Only-begotten and how he ought to be glorified, he sings: "All the nations that you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name, for you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God." 32.8 And in the 18th: "The heavens declare the glory of God." 32.9 How? By showing from the majesty and beauty given to them the Creator as unsurpassed and glorified, who is God the Word. 32.10 For "by the word of the Lord the heavens were made firm, and by the spirit of his mouth all their powers." 32.11 Therefore they are not ashamed of the testimony of inanimate things concerning the glory of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. 32.12 And in the 23rd: "Lift up your gates, O rulers, and be lifted up, eternal gates, and the King of glory shall come in." 32.13 He exhorts the lower creation to lift up the gates at his incarnation, and the upper creation at his ascension. 32.14 And in the 116th: "Praise the Lord, all you nations, and let all the peoples praise him." 32.15 And Isaiah: "you shall see a king with glory." 32.16 And Ezekiel: "Blessed be the glory of the Lord from his place" and "this was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord." 32.17 Then Paul: "Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for a likeness of an image of corruptible man." 32.18 and again to the Romans: 32.18 "Therefore he gave them up in the desires of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves. They who exchanged the glory of God for a lie, and revered and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen." 32.19 And who is the Creator of all, whom he says is blessed for

πρόσθεν εἴρηται, τοὺς μὴ κράζοντας κατὰ τὸν Ναθαναήλ· «σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ, σὺ εἶ ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶν Χριστιανῶν». 31.15 Καὶ τὴν προφητείαν δὲ Ἠσαΐου τὴν λέγουσαν· «τὸν βασιλέα κύριον Σαβαὼθ εἶδον τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς μου». Παῦλος μὲν τῷ πνεύματι τοῦ θεοῦ ἀνέθηκεν, Ἰωάννης δὲ τῷ μονογενεῖ, ὡς προείρηται, διὰ τὸ ἐπίκοινον τῆς θεότητος καὶ τῆς ἀδιαδόχου μιᾶς βασιλείας. 31.16 πῶς γὰρ καὶ ἐγχωρεῖ, τὸν μὲν ἄρχειν, τὸν δὲ ὡς ἐν ἀνθρώποις σχολαῖον εἶναι, ὅταν ὁ πατὴρ ἐν τῷ υἱῷ καὶ ὁ υἱὸς ἐν τῷ πατρὶ μένει καὶ ὁπότε τὸ πνεῦμα ἐκπορεύεται παρὰ τοῦ πατρὸς καὶ μένει παρὰ τῷ υἱῷ θεϊκῶς;
