The most wise Moses, having been initiated, and revealing it in a manner befitting the good to the rest of men, has written that God made the entire world in six days; in which, accordingly considering in sequence and in order, together with the providence and judgment of beings, the genesis in a fitting manner (for these things are contained in it), we make up the most complete number 12.
ΡΞΗ (168). A CONTEMPLATION ON THE BASKETS
A contemplation on the baskets. And the Word speaks of baskets, in which were placed the leftovers, the pedagogical economy, the intelligible words of the sayings for those spiritually nourished, because they have not yet risen above pedagogical teaching, which both duly suggests useful things, and proposes a painful discipline for those so instructed, as the material from which the baskets are constructed gives to understand, being by nature suited for striking.
ΡΞΘ (169). A CONTEMPLATION ON THE 7 LOAVES
A contemplation on the 7 loaves. And the seven loaves for the four thousand prefigure, as I think, the legal mystagogy, that is, the more divine words according to it, which to those who wait upon the Word for three days, that is, with perseverance patiently bear the labor for ethical and physical and theological philosophy, which brings about the illumination of knowledge, the Word mystically gives.
ΡΟ (170). ANOTHER CONTEMPLATION CONCERNING THE THREE DAYS
Another contemplation concerning the three days. Or perhaps the three days signify the natural and written and spiritual law, 1404 as each more spiritual word according to it provides illumination to the industrious, during which blamelessly those who hunger for divine things well and truly, waiting upon God and the Word, receive mystical food, the leftovers of which simultaneously have symbols of both victory and of kingdom. For the seven large baskets, having their material from palm trees (and the palm tree is a symbol of victory and of kingdom), and in addition, of the unshaken resistance on behalf of truth against the assaults of violent spirits, through themselves they show those who have been fed to be victors over all evil and ignorance, as having received from God the Word an unconquerable dominion over both passions and demons.
ΡΟΑ (171). A CONTEMPLATION ON THE NUMBER OF THE FOUR THOUSAND MEN
A contemplation on the number of the four thousand men. And the number of those very men fed these spiritual words is a very clear witness of their true perfection, as it contains the four general monads, of which the first is the first monad, and the second monad 14Ε_156 is the decad, and the third monad is the hundred, and the fourth monad is the thousand. For each of these, apart from the first monad, is both a monad and a decad; a monad of those after it, as it is composed into itself, and to the
