everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life. 1 THESSALONIANS. For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of boasting? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? For you are our glory and joy. That the one presiding over the word must go around all the villages and the cities entrusted to him. Chapter 12. MATTHEW. And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease. LUKE. And he went through the city and village, preaching the kingdom of God, and proclaiming the good news; and the twelve were with him. That all must be called to the obedience of the 31.828 Gospel, and to proclaim the word with all boldness, and to bear witness to the truth, even if some should hinder, and persecute in any manner whatsoever, even to death. Chapter 13. MATTHEW. What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. MATTHEW. The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. Go therefore into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding. JOHN. Jesus answered him: I spoke openly to the world; I always taught in the synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews come together, and in secret I have said nothing. ACTS. And when they had brought them, they set them before the council, and the high priest asked them, saying: Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said: We ought to obey God rather than men. ACTS. except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and tribulations await me. But I make no account of anything, nor do I hold my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the Gospel of the grace of God. 1 THESSALONIANS. For you yourselves know, brethren, our entrance to you, that it was not in vain; but even after we had suffered before and were spitefully treated, as you know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak to you the Gospel of our God in much conflict. That one must pray for the progress of those who have believed, and to give thanks for it. Chapter 14. JOHN. I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they all may be one, as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us. And again: Father, those whom you have given me, I desire that where I am, they also may be with me. LUKE. In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the spirit and said: I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and pru 31.829 dent, and have revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in your sight. TO THE ROMANS. First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the Gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers. TO THE PHILIPPIANS. For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all in the tender mercies of Jesus Christ. And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. That the things accomplished by the grace of God, must be made known
