does not receive you, nor hear your words, as you go out of that house, or that city, shake off the dust from your feet. LUKE. But into whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say: Even the dust from your city that clings to us, we wipe off against you; nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near to you. ACTS. And when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was occupied with the word, testifying to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ. But when they opposed and blasphemed, he shook out his garments and said to them: Your blood be on your own heads; I am innocent; from now on I will go to the Gentiles. That it is necessary to depart from those who disobey after every manner of care has been fulfilled for them. Chap. 35. MATTHEW. Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing! Behold, your house is left to you desolate. ACTS. It was necessary for the word of God to be spoken to you first; but since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us: I have set you to be a light for the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth. TO TITUS. A heretical man after a first and second admonition reject, knowing that such a one is perverted and sins, being self-condemned. That it is necessary to observe the precision of the Lord's words toward all in every matter, doing nothing by partiality. Chap. 30. 1 TO TIMOTHY. I charge you before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing according to partiality. That it is necessary for the one presiding over the word to do and say each thing with much circumspection and testing, according to the aim of pleasing God, as one who ought to be both tested and borne witness to by those entrusted to him. Chap. 37. ACTS. You know, from the first day I came into Asia, how I was with you the whole time, serving the Lord with all humility, and with many tears and trials. And after a little: I have coveted no one's silver, or gold, or apparel. You yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities and for those who were with me. 1 TO THE THESSALONIANS. You are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you that believe, just as you know.

REGULATION 71. Whatever has been said in context concerning bishops and presbyters. Chap. 1. 1 TO TIMOTHY. If anyone aspires to the office of bishop, he desires a good work.

But a bishop must be blameless, and the rest that follows. 1 TO TIMOTHY. Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity. 2 TO TIMOTHY. Flee youthful lusts, but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, and the rest that follows. 2 TO TIMOTHY. But you have closely followed my faith, my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, my patience, my persecutions, my sufferings. TO TITUS. For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint presbyters in every city as I commanded you, if anyone is blameless, and the rest that follows. Chap. 2. -Concerning deacons. ACTS. And

βʹ.
