I will restore the land. 35, 30. Then I will bring you out into the wilderness of the peoples, and I will enter into judgment with you there face to face. In the way that I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of Egypt, so will I judge you, says Adonai the Lord. And he calls the nations the wilderness of peoples, being formerly desolate of God; and through this he signified beforehand that when piety was brought to the nations, these too will depart from the worship of idols, being ashamed of the change of the formerly impious nations. And the phrase, "I will enter into judgment with you face to face," reveals the reproof that comes through deeds; For the deeds themselves, he says, then all but crying out, will convict your disobedient and lawless mind, showing the obedience of the peoples formerly deprived; just as, therefore, having entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness, I delivered them to utter 81.1001 destruction; so also I will bring punishment upon you; and this he has made clearer through the following words, having said: 37, 38. And I will make you pass under my rod, and I will bring you into the number of the covenant; And I will choose out from you the impious, and those who have fallen away. For the impious, and those who have abandoned my legislation, I will scatter using the rod, but those worthy of the number, and who have become guardians of my covenant, I will bring in, and I will deem them worthy of my providence. And through these things he signified both the apostolic choir, and those who through it have believed in the divine preaching; then, persisting in the threat against the wicked, he adds: "Because I will bring them out from the land of their sojourning, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel; and you shall know that I am the Lord." For having brought them back from captivity, he says, these very ones who have behaved in an impious manner I will scatter again among all the nations. And this received its fulfillment after the cross of our Savior; for the Romans, having enslaved them, scattered them throughout the inhabited world, and drove them from their royal city; thus having foretold the grievous things, the philanthropist again offers them exhortation and counsel; for he is mindful of his own promises; and he said that he does not desire the death of the lawless one, so much as that he should turn and live. Therefore he says: 39, 40. And you, O house of Israel, thus says Adonai the Lord: Let each one cast away his practices; and after this, if you will listen to me, you will no longer profane my holy name with your gifts and with your practices. Because on my holy mountain, on the high mountain of Israel, says Adonai the Lord; there the whole house of Israel will serve me completely in the land, and there I will accept them, and there I will look for your first-fruits, and the first-fruits of your consecrated gifts in all your holy things. For if you are willing to be persuaded, he says, and you cease from profaning my holy name (for being called by my name, and living lawlessly, and offering gifts to idols, you attribute to me the blasphemy of impiety); you will return to your ancestral land, and you will enjoy the customary providence, offering with a good mind the first-fruits of the good things you receive, and seeing me also accepting them graciously. 41, 42. For with a fragrant aroma, he says, I will accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples, and gather you from the countries in which you were scattered among them, and I will be sanctified in you in the sight of the peoples; And you will know 81.1004 that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the land for which I lifted my hand, to give it to your fathers. And he has put "I will be sanctified" instead of "I will be glorified"; for all, seeing both my benefits and your gratitude, will reap much profit, seeing the weakness of their so-called gods, and contemplating my power through my beneficence toward you. 43. And you shall remember there your ways, and all your practices, in which you were defiled in them, and you shall smite your faces

λεʹ, λʹ. μγʹ.
