Service I. Of Saint Maximus. VOLUME II. Page 206.
SERVICE I. Of the venerable Maximus, Anastasius, and Macarius (Anastasius). Stich. Plagal tone.
4. Prosomoia. Martyrs of the Lord, intercede. O venerable Fathers, you have hallowed every city, and enlightened every place; and now
intercede that the enlightenment of Christ may dwell in our souls, we pray. O venerable fathers, you abominated every heresy; you proclaimed piety; wherefore
intercede that the enlightenment of Christ may dwell in our souls, we pray. O venerable Fathers, after the cutting off of your members, as if having suffered nothing,
you acted, speaking with tongueless mouths, and writing the divine dogmas with your hands. Tone pl. 4. Ode 1. Israel from bondage. Having acquired the treasures of the highest wisdom in your heart, O venerable one, through it
you enriched the world with your dogmas. You showed an angelic way of life while dwelling on earth, and you became a treasury of God,
venerable preacher of Christ, wherefore you were also mingled with him. You burned up the sore tongues of heretics with your flame-bearing tongue, O blessed one,
proclaiming the Savior as one Son in a duality of forms. Theotokion. Rejoice, pure Theotokos, who in the last times gave birth in the flesh to the pre-existing Word of God;
rejoice, wall of us all and protection of those who honor you. Ode 3. Is there no saint as the Lord? The blood drips from your precious hand, and the dogmas flow from your prudent
tongue, which lived articulately after its cutting off, Christ in two natures.
Your hand did not cease to cry out in writings, and your tongue with dogmas trumpets your faith, (208) O thrice-blessed, divinely-speaking one. For it was God moving both and compelling them to speak.
Having transferred your citizenship intellectually from earth to the heavens, O venerable ones, you dwell there in eternal light, wherefore you also received a heavenly crown.
Theotokion. Women indeed give birth, O pure Mother-and-Virgin, but are no longer virgins, as you,
remain; for none of them gave birth to God, except you, O holy Theotokos. Ode 4. From a shady mountain.
