What? He makes the woman the cause of his folly and his sin; for this reason he is rightly cast out of paradise. But since Adam was not willing to repent at that time, and this by the plot of the evil demon, for this reason God, having come to the earth, again calls all to Himself through repentance and says: "Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near." It has drawn near, it stands before the gates of your hearts and your mouths; open your hearts through faith and it will immediately enter and at once your mouths will be opened and you will cry out: "We have the treasure of the Spirit in us, we have it; we have possessed eternal life in our hearts." But consider: God first called the Jews and they were not persuaded to go; lastly He calls all the nations through the Son, and being persuaded they took refuge in Him and ran to Him. Therefore He also says to His apostles: "Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here all the poor and maimed, both lame and blind," calling this entire world the city, and the streets and lanes (148) the tribes of the nations and the hidden countries that are far away, and the poor and maimed, both lame and blind, those crushed by many sins and various offenses and iniquities and blinded by ignorance of God.

Therefore He calls all from east to west, I mean Hebrews and Greeks. But as God, He foreknew, as we have often said, the disobedience of the Hebrews from unbelief and the conversion of the nations from faith; and before the ages He predestined that as many as would believe in Him and be baptized in His name, that is, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and would eat the immaculate body of His Son and drink His precious blood, would be justified from sin, that is, be set free and glorified and become partakers of eternal life, just as that very Lord of all says: "He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life; and does not come into judgment but has passed from death to life." Behold, therefore, you were also foreknown by God, brother, and predestined and called and glorified and justified and recalled to eternal life through faith in Christ and holy baptism; and you were not brought into a sensible paradise, as Adam was before, but into heaven and the good things in the heavens, "which eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and have not entered into the heart of man." Work the virtues, therefore, and keep the commandments of God, or rather, through the commandments keep yourself from transgressing any of what has been commanded to you, lest you suffer the fate of Adam or rather even worse, being deprived of the greater and heavenly good things. Prefer no longer (149) any of the earthly things, nor let any desire for corruptible things overcome you, lest you be stripped of the glory with which you were glorified by Christ and, as one not clothed in a wedding garment, you be bound hand and foot and cast into the outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Faith in Christ is the new paradise. Therefore also before the foundation of the world He foreknew all those who have believed and who ought to believe in Him; whom He also called and will not cease calling until the consummation, and He glorified and will glorify, and He justified and will justify, making them conformed, that is, to the glory of the image of His Son through holy baptism and the grace of the Spirit, mystically making them all sons of God and restoring them as new from old and as immortal from mortal and giving them commandments, as He once did to Adam. Therefore, as many as shall keep all His commandments until death, these both demonstrate their love for God and ascend to a greater glory according to their progress. But as many as are contemptuous and negligent and ungrateful
