but if you believe him, you will be healed. For thus, having had experience of his power, turning to do good, you might also be able to save your souls. As he said these things, they all fell on their knees before his feet. And he, lifting up his hands to heaven and praying to God, healed them all by prayer alone. And having remained with the Berytians for several days, and having accustomed many to the monarchical religion and baptized them, having appointed one of the elders who followed him as a bishop for them, he went out to Byblos. And having arrived there and learned that Simon had not remained with them even for a single day, but had immediately set out for Tripoli, after remaining with them for a few days and healing not a few and training them in the books, he proceeded to Tripoli in the track of Simon, having chosen rather to pursue him, not to flee from him.

δὲ ἐάν τε αὐτῷ πιστεύσητε, ἰαθήσεσθε. οὕτω γὰρ τοῦ δυνατοῦ τὴν πεῖραν λαβόντες, ἐπὶ τὸ εὖ ποιεῖν τραπόμενοι καὶ τὰς ψυχὰς ἀνασωθῆναι δυνηθείητε. ταῦτα αὐτοῦ λέγοντος οἱ πάντες γονυπετεῖς πρὸ τῶν αὐτοῦ ἔκειντο ποδῶν. ὁ δὲ εἰς οὐρανὸν ἄρας τὰς χεῖρας καὶ τῷ θεῷ προσευξάμενος ἰάσατο τοὺς πάντας ἐκ μόνης εὐχῆς. οὐκ ὀλίγων δὲ ἡμερῶν παραμείνας τοῖς Βηρυτίοις καὶ πολλοὺς τῇ μοναρχικῇ θρησκείᾳ συνεθίσας καὶ βαπτίσας, ἀπὸ τῶν ἑπομένων αὐτῷ πρεσβυτέρων ἕνα ἐπίσκοπον αὐτοῖς καταστήσας, εἰς τὴν Βύβλον ἐξῄει. καὶ γενόμενος ἐκεῖ καὶ μαθών, ὅτι Σίμων οὐδὲ μιᾶς ἡμέρας αὐτοῖς προσέμεινεν, ἀλλ' εὐθέως εἰς Τρί- πολιν ὥρμησεν, ὀλίγων ἡμερῶν αὐτοῖς ἐπιμείνας καὶ θεραπεύσας οὐκ ὀλίγους καὶ ταῖς βίβλοις αὐτοὺς ἐνασκήσας, κατ' ἴχνος τοῦ Σίμωνος εἰς τὴν Τρίπολιν ἐπορεύετο, μεταδιώκειν αὐτὸν μᾶλλον, οὐχ ὑποφεύγειν προῃρημένος.
