71

Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not hate those whom it is not right to hate, do not steal, nor undertake any evil deeds at all. For if you do, deprived of the hope of the good things to come, in the present time you will be afflicted both by evil demons and by grievous sufferings, and in the age to come you will be punished with eternal fire. The things therefore spoken to you today are sufficient; and for the rest, those of you who are troubled by sufferings, remain for healing, but let those of the others who wish go in peace. When he had said these things, all remained, some for the sake of being cured, and others to observe those who obtained healing. But Peter, only by laying his hands on them and praying, healed them, so that those who were immediately healed became overjoyed, and those who observed, being exceedingly amazed and praising God, believed with a firm hope, and along with those healed went away to their own homes, having received the command to assemble earlier the next day. And when they had departed, Peter, remaining there with his companions, having taken some food, refreshed himself with sleep.
