sins of the world.” 7.7 That he works together with the Father and the Son; and that Christ, in the power of the Spirit, performed signs and wonders and cast out demons, because of the indivisibility of the Godhead. That he works with and provides all things to all with the self-sufficient and all-giving God the Father and his Son, not postponing until tomorrow, as indeed a forgiving and like-minded Spirit of the Father, having an inalienable being and co-reigning with him, and having been allotted his divinity, from whence he also co-subsistently came forth. And that the all-sovereign and all-powerful Christ, with the power of the same most venerable Spirit, performed the signs and wonders and cast out demons, as the hierophants explained; Micah, for one: “Thus,” he says, “says the Lord concerning the prophets who lead my people astray,” and a little later he adds: “For there will be none to hear them, unless I fill them with strength in the spirit of the Lord and of judgment and of might.” He said, therefore, that the Lord creates strength in the spirit of the Lord, so as to reveal both the Trinity and the bond of its nature. And it alludes to the judgment, in which there is no longer repentance nor anyone who hears; “For in,” he says, “Hades, who will confess to you?” And “I will fill with strength” is instead of “I will make a great recompense with the divine Spirit.” But Paul, the most esteemed of the apostles, to the Ephesians: “For this reason I bow my knees to God the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that he may grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner man, for Christ to dwell;” and to the Romans: “I have therefore confidence in Christ Jesus toward God. For I will not dare to speak of anything which Christ has not accomplished through me, by word and deed, for the obedience of the Gentiles, in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Holy Spirit.” The hypostases that are alike in nature are worthy of like honor; whence this saying is also similar to: “Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” Matthew from the Savior: “But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.” And how he cooperates in enlightenment; it is impossible, therefore, for them to be one in harmony and in action, if their substance is not one; and for this reason the Lord says at one time: “The Father who dwells in me, he does the works;” and at another, as has now been said: “I by the Spirit of God cast out demons.” For this reason Paul also said: “in the power of the Holy Spirit,” confessing that by the divine energy of the Trinity they raised the dead, he Eutychus, and Peter Tabitha. 7.8 That just as God and the Father, so also the Holy Spirit gives oracles, being signified as God and Lord. That just as God and the Father, so also the Holy Spirit gives oracles, being signified as God and Lord, as Luke says: “There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him, and it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And he was led by the Spirit into the temple. And it happened when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him according to the custom of the law concerning him; and he took him into his arms, and blessed God and said: Now you are releasing your servant, Lord, according to your word in peace; for my eyes have seen your salvation.” Therefore the Holy Spirit gave an oracle; Simeon received Christ into his arms according to the oracle; he blessed the one who gave the oracle, that is, he glorified the Holy Spirit, having seen the salvation of the oracle receiving its fulfillment; and he called the one who gave the oracle both God and Lord. And God the Father gave an oracle, saying to Job: “Do you think I have spoken to you otherwise than that you might be shown to be righteous?” But those who have practiced fighting against the true Spirit of God, everywhere in the hypothesis the things in others
