give a slave to demons (as I said just now), the demon has no authority over him. Therefore, having chosen to worship one God and having abstained from the 'table of demons' and having undertaken sobriety with philanthropy and justice and having been baptized into the thrice-blessed name for the remission of sins, by giving yourselves over as much as you can to the perfection of purity, you are able, having been delivered from eternal punishment, to be established as heirs of eternal good things. Having said these things, he commanded those who were troubled by passions to come forward, and so many, having come together from the experience of those healed yesterday, came forward; and he, having laid his hands upon them and prayed, healed them immediately, commanding them and the others to assemble very early in the morning, he himself, having bathed and partaken of food, went to sleep.

μοσιν δοῦλον ἐκδση (ὡς τάχιον εἶπον), ὁ δαίμων τὴν κατ' αὐτοῦ ἐξουσίαν οὐκ ἔχει. ἕνα οὖν θεὸν σέβειν ἑλόμενοι καὶ «τραπέζης δαιμόνων» ἀπο- σχόμενοι καὶ σωφροσύνην μετὰ φιλανθρωπίας καὶ δικαιοσύνης ἀναδεξάμενοι καὶ τρισμακαρίᾳ ἐπονομασίᾳ εἰς ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν βαπτισάμενοι τῷ ὅσον δύνασθε ἐπὶ τὸ τέλειον τῆς ἁγνείας ἑαυτοὺς ἐπιδιδόναι δύνασθε κολάσεως ἀιδίου ·υσθέντες αἰωνίων ἀγαθῶν κληρονόμοι καταστῆναι. ταῦτα εἰπὼν τοῖς ὑπὸ παθῶν ὀχλουμένοις προσιέναι ἐκέλευσεν, καὶ οὕτως πολλοὶ πείρᾳ τῶν ἐχθὲς θεραπευθέντων συνεληλυθότες προσῄεσαν· ὁ δὲ τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῖς ἐπιθεὶς καὶ εὐξάμενος, ἐξαυτῆς ἰασάμενος, ἐντειλάμενος αὐτοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἄλλοις ὀρθρίτερον συνεδρεύειν, αὐτὸς λουσάμενος καὶ τρο- φῆς μεταλαβὼν ὕπνωσεν.
