that the first speaks of the absolute light, nor is there error as in the essences of the angels, and truth the self-absolutely and uncausedly truth; but what follows, that it is not of things relative, as for example changing from darkness to light, (14S_410> as if changing from potential light to actual light from the things relative to each other, light and darkness; for it is neither gloom, nor much light, so neither from the opposite, did it change from being potential error into actual truth; for all these things, being secondary to it, have proceeded from it providentially. It is therefore none of the things that come from it.

ὅτι τό μέν πρῶτον περί τοῦ ἀπολύτως φωτός λέγει, οὐδέ πλάνη ὡς ἐν οὐσίαις τῶν ἀγγέλων, καί ἀλήθειαν τήν αὐτοαπολελυμένως καί ἀναιτίως ἀλήθειαν· τά δέ ἐφεξῆς, ὅτι οὔτε τῶν πρός τι, οἷον ἐκ σκότους μεταβάλλων φῶς, (14S_410> ὡσανεί ἐκ τοῦ δυνάμει φωτός εἰς τό ἐνεργείᾳ φῶς μεταβάλλων ἐκ τῶν σχετικῶν εἰς ἄλληλα φῶς καί σκότος· οὔτε γάρ γνόφος ἐστίν, οὔτε πολύ φῶς, οὕτως οὔτε ἐκ τοῦ ἐναντίου, ἐκ τοῦ κατά δύναμιν πλάνην εἶναι εἰς ἀλήθειαν ἐνεργείᾳ μετέβαλε· πάντα γάρ ταῦτα, δεύτερα αὐτοῦ, ἐξ αὐτοῦ προνοητικῶς ἐκφοιτήσαντα. Οὐδέν οὖν ἐστι τῶν ἐξ αὐτοῦ.
