Hecate also rules them as holding together the triple element.” And again he says: 4.23.7 “Having cited one more oracle, which Hecate herself has made, I will cease my account of her: ‘I am this maiden of many forms, who walks in heaven, bull-faced, three-headed, harsh, with golden arrows, Phoebe unwedded, bringer of light to mortals, Eileithyia, bearing the triple signs of a three-part nature; in the ether appearing as fiery phantoms, and in the air I sit upon silver courses; and the earth controls the dark brood of my hounds.’” 4.23.8 To which the author adds clearly, who the hounds are: that they are the evil demons, about whom we have just ceased to speak. So much then for these things. But concerning the fact that the demons are truly evil, and that those who are treated as gods by the multitude bring nothing good, come let us establish this still more through many proofs.
