of Christ, to whom be glory for ever. Amen . And writing to the Ephesians he praised thus: Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church in Christ Jesus to all generations for ever and ever. Amen . And a little before this he said thus: For this reason I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. And after many things: We give thanks , he says, always for all of you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God and the Father . And indeed he also repaid the generosity of the Philippians with blessings: And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus . And to the Hebrews he prayed thus: Now may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep by the blood of the eternal covenant, our Lord Jesus, equip you in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is pleasing in his sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever. Amen . Not only giving glory, but also commanding, and testifying, he joins Christ with God the Father. And writing to the blessed Timothy he cries out: I charge you in the presence of God and of Jesus Christ . And again: I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see; to whom be honor and eternal dominion. Amen . These things we were taught by the divine apostles, this teaching both John and Matthew, the greatest rivers of the evangelical proclamations, brought to us; the one saying: The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham ; the other showing the things before the ages: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; and that all things were made through him .
